Staffordshire Bullterriers of 2012 & 2013 (Picture thread)

Just wanted to share something as rare as a Staffordshire bullterrier in ok shape 2012. There aren't many left, that's for sure. This bitch is 3 years old and down from Psycho lines. Please feel free to share pictures of Staffords of today, you guys that still feeds em.

That's a terrific looking Stafford you've got there Skipper. I'v never fed a Staff, although i'v always had an interest in them.

Great to see a stafford in shape & also on the same yard as bulldogs. Says a lot to myself on the quality of them staffords !!
She does remind me of a certain female that i was enquiring on (health & age) only the other day.
No doubt these are related in some way. Maybe going a wee bit off subject (apologies) as all are not alive,but they may be of interest. The proven ones anyway !!

If i remember rightly this dog was the 1st working stafford i owned. He was born on the 1st day of 1982. Lacked pretty much everything,but the enjoyment of what most staffords do. He was pure show breeding like the dog Skipper posted above,but far from as exaggerated. On top,he was very similar bred to working stuff in Ireland.

Thank you for the kind words Gabba. You're right they are of quality for sure. Always compared to the bulldogs, so the standard is pretty high. Please feel free to post pics of staffords that are gone to. The meaning of this topic was for us who still feeds and breeds these lovely breed to enlighten those with lesser knowledge, by showing some nice photos of working dogs. It's pretty common around bulldoggers to see the staffords as a show breed. And for the most part they are right. But there are still some fanciers hanging on to the last straws of the working strains. I hope this will give some of you an "aha- moment". I love the pictures you put up, there is no doubt that these are closley related. I think I could be pretty close on how they are bred just by the looks of them.

True, but I have had so much use of this cold male. He's a perfect playmate during keeps. Have used him with all my females in keep, and even some males. Friendly wrestling is one of the best training methods there is imo.

My old dog has a female sparing partner for about 5 years now. Greatest thing to see is them going at it with the friendly wrestling. She turned a bit grumpy the last couple of years tho. The young dog i have ( 3 year old ) is hell but never touched the old dog while in his presence ( grabbed his dam a couple of times tho ). I think he sees him as surogate father since he's been around him since he was a pup. The old lad also just ignores him most of the time like he knows that young buck aint nothing but trouble !

It's pretty amazing actually. Have had dogs that would kill any dog that they got to, but this little rascal can walk the yard without trouble, walks straight to the crazy ones and they love him. I figure they don't see him as a threat and therefore leave him be. Jack, any thoughts on this matter?

Took some videos footage when I was out walking 2 dogs this morning. First one is the bitch I've posted pictures of earlier. The other one is hear niece, she's 8 or 9 months old. The footage don't have the best quality, taken with my cellphone. Music is Joe Buck.

Haha, I had to turn it off and scream a bit at them. Dunno what happen with the video. Youtube asked if I wanted to remove the shaky pictures. I said yes, looks terrible now LOL. What I really like about the staffords though is that even if the older bitch is fully started and a very hot bitch, she won't go near dogs we meet if she's not given the ok. Would never let my apbts run loose like that. I think they are smarter, they know when its time to brawl and when not to. Is this something you recognize in your dogs too?

I find that eventually,there will be trouble between my dogs,even with mum & offspring.
The dogs down from a female i had (including herself) were/are focused on anything with fur on,so it is a risk to let them off when walking. If i see a long stretch with no one around then fine,but i am alert at all times. Although pretty obedient to myself,once they mature a wee bit they tend to go a wee bit deaf to my holler. Countless times on my walks,i have had to pick my dog up in my arms due to owners walking their dogs off lead. This is something that i don't like at all (with my own dogs) & it just attracts attention if your dog is screaming the place down & digging in to catch up with a dog. Now,i try to get round that by walking early morning,or when the weather is bad. Either way,the walks are not enjoyable.
Give me a laid back dog with a wee bit intelligence any day....................

Yeah i get you. Done that a million times. Lifting my dog up cause the other persons dog can't see there is trouble ahead. But then again I've had dogs that started wagging there tails at strange dogs, until they got close enough. They will fight to if I'm not there with an constant eye. The psycho dogs seems smart enough to understand. But the DRS crosses are more like the apbt, very dog aggressive. IF I meet dogs I always leash them no matter what dog I have, it's just a matter of respect imo.

Nice Staffordshire Bull Terriers, are this all working lines? Asking out of ignorance, what is the average weight on this dogs? And what differentiates them form the working lines of the APBT? Did they come from the APBT or as I understand it the other way around?

the staffords of today are far removed from the apbt but the dogs that they call the irish staffbull terrier are still close but they are a newly made hybrid using english bull terrier and is usually a taller better looking dog imo now the apbt stems from the old staffordshire terrier and those were the dogs first imported here threw guys like colby and and a few others hope this sheds some light

I have one of those "irish" style staffs. Not a bull terrier hybrid by ane means. Exactly the same looks as a pit, that is all, and this is why they say that Britts disguise pits as staffs and have all these problems with local police etc etc. Nice athletic dogs with easy temperament, good for pets. Not working animals.

I agree that some are nice athletic dogs & ok as pets. Likewise with some bulldogs.
As for them not being working animals,well thankfully there is working lines out there who are not available to the general public,or misinformed.......

couple of small ones we had, 27 and 28 lb, nice to look at but no good ! plenty of small apbt about if you want something that size. all Staffords are down from show stock, so can't compare to gamebred apbt's
