I have a extremely active bitch and male that are litter mates. The bitch runs her chain constantly. My male is easy going. The problem is they both have collar rub real bad. I get it healed up or so i think and if i don't stay on it constantly it gets back raw again. The collars are the exact same 4 ply fron stillwater. They were both on the setups listed in the PBB. So i switched back to a bull snap on just the male. Nothing same raw spot. So i thought maybe they were to tight. But there both can fit two fingers between there neck and collar. I know some dogs are allergic to nylon but the only nylon is in between the piece of seat belt. Leather is out of the question. Should i try padded collars? I have heard that sometimes the padding can make it worse. I really don't want to put them in kennels. Is there something I'm doing wrong or any tips or advice you all can help me with? It would be very much appreciated. Thanks scary

Honestly, I think 4-ply collars are a bit ridiculous ... and can often cause that very problem ... especially if the material is rough.

I have never needed more than a 2-ply collar, and I always buy collars that are soft, not hard/rough.

Hard/rough (and/or too tight) = collar rub.

O'Brien's Supply (https://www.obriensk9supply.com/store/index.php) has fine collars (and other products) for a decent price.

Wade Davis has been around a long time and is still making collars --

I think he makes a padded collar, that might help with the collar rub.
