Whenever I cropped mine, I always wait until after 4 months of age. I knew a kennel who were experts at cropping, and the pups were always around 4 months old. I would only crop them if it's necessary(if its torn where you know it's from a battle)

What's your guys thoughts on it? I bought a three year old bitch one time with them. More like butchered due to one being ripped off. She had a horrible time with them any time it rained. They stayed dirty. But they was SHORT. But are there any real advantage to it other then looks?

Its a special clamp made for ear cropping....Clamp goes on and with a straight razor you just take it off....Use to be the thing in the 70s and 80s around my way and I have seen many cut....Always around 9 or 10 weeks old.....The thing is for the ears to be right you have to break that scab every 3 or 4 days and let them bleed and scab up again...At 1 time my Pops wouldn't own 1 without the ears cut...Now I would not have 1 with them cut.....Its a pain in the ass...

Like I said if you are not going to pull the ears every 3 or 4 days they will not be right.....

I only cropped one dog's ears and that was Red Angel's (http://www.thepitbullbible.com/forum/bulldog_profile.php?dog_id=7440), who was my second dog. It looked good on her, but in hindsight I would have preferred her full-drop ears, which I personally love.

Leon did a nasty butcher job on Stormbringer's (http://www.thepitbullbible.com/forum/bulldog_profile.php?dog_id=211) ears, which I was always pissed about. Stormy had real thick, nice natural ears that went forward and looked like a "baseball cap" ... and Leon's crude, uneven rendering of Stormy's ears ruined his appearance IMO. Stormy was such a powerful-looking dog that he was impressive anyway, but he looked far better with natural ears IMO.

Anyway, I would never crop any dog's ears again myself, as I think their natural ears look way better and add more personality to their expressions.

Thanks jack. I really like the natural look myself as well. I also feel like when people see a bulldog with cut ears they ASSume that that dog is being fought... Imo..

I dont care one way or the other. I think maybe it is in the colby book.
I would only crop if there was something wrong with the ears.
but i cant stand bat ears.
