I'm curious to know what risks if any I may run into breeding my 6 yr old bitch? She is a 30lb. bitch and as whelped a litter of 7 pups 3 1/2yrs ago. Is there any non-typical issues I should worry about due to her age and time inbetween breeding?

Nope. 6 years old isn't very old for a female to have pups. You should worry about all the normal stuff you have to worry with, but age shouldn't really be a factor.

i agree cause my 6 yr old female had a litter of 9 pups for me she always had nothing less that 6 pups but last litter she had 1 pup breed her late in her heat and the stud dog wasnt cared properly at all

She's dropping this week, so I'll find out soon enough. Thanks for responding everyone. She is much bigger with this litter than her first go around, hopefully she doesn't have more than 8 pups.

The litter dropped yesterday morning, 5 total, 2 still born. The surviving 3 pups and mom are healthy and happy.

Congratulations.

Did you try to revive the stillborn pups, or did you just find them dead?

Lots of pups can be saved, if you're there when they come out.

No we found them dead, she showed no signs of labor. Woke up to the litter at 6am, not revivable.
