I was asked this question, maybe you can shed some light.

'Hollingsworths Prince"

'Hey hows it going....I have a question about the above dog in Red Pirates Ped.What was the significance of this dog? What was special about him if anything.I see him here and there and was used quite a bit.Just curious.Thought you would know."

Hollingsworth's Prince

Hollingsworth's Prince actually wasn't used much at all. From what I can remember, he was put down by Ed Faron at the age of 3 (I believe) both for being a man-biter as well as for (allegedly) quitting. He killed Wildside's Cowboy (a very nice dog) and was in his throat ... but instead of rooting-in, I remember Ed telling me Prince was pulling back on the windpipe ... Whether the quit really happened in a later roll or not, I don't know, but I believe the real factor was that the dog attacked Ed (or was people-mean in some way), and so he was shot at a very young age. But I remember him as a very tall, lean, strapping, and athletic dog when I saw him back in 1990.

Prince was an interesting dog, pedigree-wise, as he was bred a lot like Lady In Red (and Poncho) in some ways. His mother Pacer was a littermate to Gr Ch Buck (off of Little Tater, like Lady In Red), and his sire Arizona Cole was off of Ch Bobby Jr. (who most people think was really off of Reuben like Ch Hammer (http://www.thepitbullbible.com/forum/showthread.php?1068)) ... while Cole's mother was Patrick's Billy, whose mother was the same as Lady In Red's mother (Anderson's Rose). So he should produce bred to any Hollingsworth/Poncho-type dogs.

As far as I know, Prince's only breeding was to Wildside's Peppermint Patty (a 3/4 Paddy, 1/4 Lady In Red bitch) ... and, as far as I know, the only pup produced grew up to be Joe D.'s Ch Red Pirate, a very good dog by what I was told. As for Pirate's exact match record, I am not sure, but with a pedigree like he has, he sure has a license to produce good dogs.

Is his match record questionable? Why do you say this?

Why did I say this?

Very simple: because I don't know the exact details of his match record.

It's not that I question the legitimacy, it's that I simply don't know who/what he went into.

As an interesting side note, Joe D. helped RRR condition Vise-Grip's Man O'War (http://www.thepitbullbible.com/forum/bulldog_profile.php?dog_id=18106) in his victory over Murder Glove's Ch Big Syke (4xW).
