The main person today that has any OFRN dogs would be Iron line kennels. His brother's member name on; pedigrees on line is Danger. Norrod post under his name as the Fancier.

Jake Wilder bought some or all of the remaining OFRN dogs from Hemphill. When Jake Wilder sold off his last OFRN dogs. Norrod bought all of them or some of them. Only he knows the whole story.

The kennel is called Iron line kennels. Only Norrod can tell you what blood lines he still has. Norrod did cross the OFRN dogs with his Red Devil dogs and some Tramp Red Boy dogs. I think he may still run some dog ads. Norrod is one of the few old timers that stuck with his line of dogs. Kept them as is even up till today. I do not know him personally only from the older SDJ magazines writings, Ads, etc. Never went past the Mason Dixie line meeting dog men.

When I first got in the dog game. Some of the older dog men said the OFRN dogs showed gamness, lacked mouth and fought dumb. Most of the best lines of the past and today will have some OFRN Red Nose Lightner blood in them.

Overtime the OFRN strain lost a lot of popularity and some breeders had little success with it. Same was going on with the Colby and Heinzl strains. You will note that Maloney used about 1/4 Hemphill blood in his dogs way back. His Hemphill dogs came straight from Hemphill.

Over time some dog bloodlines gets blamed for being no good anymore. Problem is, the main breeders of those lines are no longer breeding them. The later owners sometimes, just paper breed the remaining dogs to sell dogs off the name of the original breeder. No process of culling the bad ones.

Another reason is many young dog men jump from one strain to another. I got caught up in that myself. Had to many different crosses on my yard. What ever is the hot item of the day. Sometimes buying dogs from afar is a nice romantic notion.

Mr. E. Skinner told me one time, to be patient and check out all the small dog yards. Many times a very good dog can be found. As opposed to some so and so dog from across the USA. I over looked two in my back yard. One was A. Howle's Buckshot dog and Braddock's Mr. Clean. These two had their oil checked real good, which I got to see with my own two eyes.

The OFRN and some other dogs that carry that Red Nose/Red color trait that are popular today. Are through the Patrick and Medlin blood lines. Dogs like the Macho Buck line and others. One thing of note that the Medlin and Patrick lines have produced is good head dogs. Nasty Nasty Head chewing bastards. LOL Not all Patrick or Medlin dogs come Red Nose /Red but many do.

The Red Devil dogs were used here and there up in the N.C. area. many years back when I just got in the game.. Sure some were good dogs and some not. I lost a match to a Maximillian Red Devil dog Bass & Rowell had. I used my Budweizer dog that I had overworked on my new made Jenny mill. Ran that poor dog 4 hours on that Mill. Yikes!!!

Still almost won and had the Red Devil dog looking bad. Bottom fell out on my dog and it could not protect itself. So had to give it up. Never saw that Red Devil dog anymore after that. We wanted another shot at him. Since I had no interest in the Red Devil or Red Boy dogs, to each his own. Did not keep up with what was going on with them. Will find both lines bred in some blood lines today. Cheers

To the OP Intelligence & Gameness. There has already been some misinformation posted as you will find any time red dogs are mentioned. I agree with Evolution, read the Centipede thread, good food for thought.
