Bo's true ped maybe?
Any opinions on this one way or another?
WSK, my opinion is this. I knew Bob Finley. Myself along with V. Jackson had chats with him in person time to time. He never made mention that Bo was bred off the Bullet dog. If Loposay told someone that tale later on after the Jeep dogs got popular. He needed to have contacted Bob and Ralph Greenwood about this matter. Let Mr. Greenwood know he had falsified the papers on the Bo dog. I am sure Mr. Greenwood would have asked Loposay what other dog's breeding's did you falsify? No one never knew for sure how the Red boy dog was bred or the Bill Cotton's Bullet dog.
Don Mayfield even tried to smear the breeding on the V. Jackson Hank dog in a article he wrote in the SDJ or His magazine. IMHO I felt like the D. Mayfield's Cotton and Lightning I/II dog's blood lines were far better over all than his Sunshine dogs. I wished I could have gotten more of those dogs.
The V.Jackson Hank dog was taking some of the attention off his Pure Bred Tudor Sunshine dogs. LOL Along with a minor personnel problem of a puppy deal between him and Vernon. The V.J.'s Hank dog was one of the very best match and producing dogs to come off his yard. Hank was just as bad as the Pit General dog or badder. Don was cutting his nose off to spite his face. LOL
There is another hearsay pedigree bull story over on the onlines pedigree site. Said to have been stated by Lonzo Pratt about Jocko/Argo/Apples etc. litter. Claiming Mr. Chavis bought those dogs along with the Jim dog at the same time. Were all Pratt bred dogs.
I was sitting in with a chat session at Grady Cummings along with J. Spruill. Grady did mention to us about taking Mr. Chavis to Lonzo's yard. Of Mr. Chavis buying a puppy not puppies from Mr. Pratt. It was a known fact back then if you paid Lonzo the full asking price for a puppy. You would probably never get the registered papers on the dog. He would not spend the extra money to get the papers. Mr. Hughes and others would pay part of the money for the pups and the rest when they got their papers.
Mr. Chavis made his living as a carpenter and was never rolling in the money. I doubt he could have afforded to buy four dogs from Mr. Lonzo Pratt back then. A lot of the money put up on Jocko and his siblings was backed by M. Gainey and the twin Parker brothers that was kin to Mr. Gainey. One of the nick names of one of those Parker twins was Greasy. They also backed A. Howle and put up the main money on the Face bitch.
Jocko and his siblings got their stamina/ mouth and foul fightning styles from the V.J. Hank dog. Their powerful build, tensile strength and being big boned dogs at any given weight. Came from the Stidham/Decordova/Beal bloodlines that was in that Rast's Quennie bitch. Queenie was a strong and stout made up bitch. Cheers
To add further confusion on the Bullet dog. It was my understanding that they were two Cottons that bred and had pit bull dogs. One was John Cotton from Tennessee or Alabama that had some good quality bred Corvino dogs. It was my understanding that John Cotton was a ex FBI agent and very good friends with Don Mayfield. They along with Mr. Bush Jr. had a common interest in the Corvino dogs through MR J. Cotton's dogs and Mayfield's Lightning I and II dogs and the Eli dog that got stolen off Mr. Bush's yard. Not 100% sure but believe Eli was on Bush Jr.'s yard when the dog was stolen. The incident could have been on Mr. Cotton's yard. No longer have my magazines from back then, was a big write up about that event.
Then there is Bill Cotton that was good friends with Mr. Howard Teal and the other known N.C. dog men of that era. Mr. Bill Cotton knew Don Mayfield real well. Don Mayfield was sort of in between the age and time era of Howard Teal/Tudor/Ferris etc. Vernon and self came along around the time era that Mr Teal and his group of dog men were coming to a end. Baker Davis/J.Crenshaw/V. Jackson/Fox/D. Burton/Clayton/D. Hathaway/Jones/Allen/Patrick/Maffie and many others were coming on the scene.
Now as my life is nearing a end and already a lot of known dog men of my era has passed on. You fellows are now the ones carrying on the torch. Now back to the main story. I never knew if Bill and John Cotton were brothers. John Cotton appeared to be more of a breeder and Bill liked the fast lane action and went to most of Mr. Teal's events along with Mr. Eagan Skinner. Sure Mr. Medlin was with them on a lot of those occasions also.
Reason I thought they may be brothers was that the pedigree shown on Bullet looked to be maybe off some of John Cotton's dogs and not Bill Cotton. Not sure one way or the other. You see Bill Cotton bought the Bullet dog while it was in a full blown match down in Cajun land. Bullet was showing deep gaminess but was losing that night. So Bill Cotton bought this dog Bullet from it's owner. Jumped in the pit stopped the fight which resulted in a fast retreat out of Cajun country by Mr. Teal/Cotton and company. Mr. Teal and Mr. Skinner told me Mr. Cotton never got any papers on Bullet during their fast retreat. If you look at the pedigree it is like Mr. Bill Cotton bred up Bullet or got the dog from John Cotton or Gaboon Trahan.
When the V. Jackson's Hank dog went into R. Bryd's Ch or soon to be hopefully CH Arizona Red dog. Bill Cotton came over and asked how the Hank dog was bred. When V. J. told him off some of Don Mayfield's Lightning I/II dogs etc. Mr. Bill Cotton started taking good bets on the Hank dog. As the Hank dog was a unknown and a under dog like Mr. Fox's Alvin dog. Odds were being laid in favor of the Arizona Red dog. They were the last card on the multi dog show. When it went down all got the shock and surprise of their lives. Arizona Red had gotten hold too a four footed killing wrecking machine. This match brought the house down and afterwards Bill Cotton offered V. Jackson some good money for the Hank dog. He declined and the rest of the story most of you know. Cheers

Thank You all. When I quit the dog game. I totally 100% quit and walked away from it for close to 40 years. When I got more curious about the power of finding information on the internet. I started wondering what had become of some of my friends in the dog game. Sadly I waited way to long and some have already passed on. I entered one of my dog's names Young's Jake. His name popped up on the on lines pedigree site and Bully Pedia site.
I saw were V. Jackson had been busy over those years and Katie Marlowe extra,extra busy. LOL So gave V.J. a call, we have talked a couple of times in the last year or so. If I could have seen into the future that I would have been a member of this great dog and pedigree site.
I would have kept all my dog magazines that was published by all the known publishers up to into the late 90's. I also had all of those very nice bound Pete Sparks books. With good info. on the Carver dogs/E. Crenshaw and many other dog men of that era. I had every book back then in magazine form and hard bound books that could be bought.
Mr. Joe Beal gave me all his collected magazines over his years that had a lot of the older Blood lines magazines. I made copies of those and gave the originals back to him. When I left the dog game. I sold all my books etc., to a young dog man by the name of Denis Jones. Later after Vernon had lost the Tango and Cash dogs and their siblings except the Harley dog. The only last living male besides the Harley dog was one I had given Denis. I liked Denis and let him have that young dog.
Vernon later came back up from Texas, to visit with me and to go see Denis. Was going to try and buy that last living male. Denis would not sell his dog but did sell all those books, magazines etc., to Vernon.
One of those books a red bound issue of the 60's through the 70's. Covered a lot of the main Carver dogs with pictures and special event stories. Vernon loaned it out to a local dog person in Texas. That person told V.J. it had got stolen and was never recovered. Vernon's health is bad now, his family has no interest what so ever in Game dogs. So a lot of good sound written history of our breed probably will be lost. Cheers
One other well known dog man in that group, that was interested in the Corvino dogs along with Mayfield/J. Cotton/Boudreaux/Dolan/ was Mr. Leo Kinard. He ran a very large yard of dogs and had about any known blood line on his yard at one time. Kinard's Sam dog was a pure Corvino bred dog. Mr. Kinard has some others as well.
The B. Cotton's Bullet dog was used by Mr. Kinard through E. Crenshaw's Sack dog and some of the Bullet crosses by Boudreaux. After I check our listing of the pedigrees of Mr. Kinard on this site. May have nine more to add that will be of interest to some. Cheers

I once was at my son football game. I went into the rest room and when I came out. There stood a man who said his name was Bill Finley and Bob was his brother. He told Bo was his dog at first and he brought from a man in a van. This may sound unreal but true,he went own to tell me about his schooling and his hunts. He did first one against I.j. And later gave him 2 his brother Bob. But didn't remember is exact ped. I work in the town where these Finley brother pour concrete
