Increase the bedding in his house, kennel, crate, or where ever you keep him. Its a pressure sore and will heal up. It sounds like you may have to check the level of bedding more frequently for him. I had one that no matter what would kick out his bedding, so i had to check his house a least every other day. sometimes I thought he did it on purpose just to get a pat on the head

Yes, could be bedding.

Could also be impacted anal glands ...

Generally, if you feed raw, and get enough calcium, the dog struggles to poop ... and never gets impacted glands.

However, if you feed kibble, and your dog has big, loose turds, and never struggles at all (struggling helps express the nasty $#!^ out of the glands), they can become impacted.

Just a thought ...
