The Alphabet Soup Of Organizations, Companies That Support HSUS
by*Amanda Radke*
Oct 18, 2011
*The Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS) is big, rich and powerful. While most local animal shelters are underfunded and unsung, HSUS has accumulated $162 million in assets and built a recognizable brand by capitalizing on the confusion its very name provokes. This misdirection results in an irony of which most animal lovers are unaware, which is that HSUS raises enough money to finance animal shelters in every single state, with money to spare, yet it doesn’t operate a single one anywhere.
This is part two of my list of*celebrities, companies and organizations*that support and endorse HSUS and People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA). I utilizedHumane Watch*and*Activist Cash*to help me compile this extensive list, which looks like an alphabet-soup of letters and acronyms. Take a minute to read through this list and educate yourself. Sending dollars to these companies, whether intentionally or not, is unacceptable. Know where your money goes and keep this list handy to share with others. Of course, this is a working list. If you know of others, please add them in the comments section below.

Companies who have withdrawn support after learning the true mission of HSUS and PETA:
Pilot Travel Centers, Precious Cat, Yellow Tail, and Hill's Pet Nutrition
According to Humane Watch, "Tennessee-based Pilot Travel Centers, a network of motorist support centers, withdrew its support for HSUS after thanking the company for its support on the HSUS Facebook page. But the company took so much flak for the $52,000 in donations to HSUS that it quickly ended its support: 'In order to avoid any further misunderstandings, employees will immediately cease collections of donations to HSUS.' Three more companies terminated financial support for HSUS soon after these controversies. The companies included the Mary Kay cosmetics company, Precious Cat, Inc., and Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc in response to protests."
Of course, we all remember Troy Hadrick’s YouTube video condemning YellowTail’s support of HSUS, which resulted in the company withdrawing its support of the organization, as well. It just goes to show that individuals can truly make a difference, and I think*BEEF Daily*readers are just the ticket to get the job done.*Contact some of these companies and let them know how you feel. Educate your neighbor about the ABC soup of organizations who fall under the umbrella of HSUS.
