Hello Blood Brothers. Just got off the phone with Mr. Truett. He said his Sister bitch was a black bitch with white markings. If the picture in the Crenshaw book can be posted to her pedigree we will all know what she looked like.

Truett's Sister won two events many years ago. Last being against Triplett and one of his bitch dogs. Was a weird dog pulling match where both dogs were pulling really hard at one another. The Sister bitch lost two front hangers and Triplett was feeling good as he now had a big advantage. As the pulling event continued, Triplett's bitch up and lost her two front hangers. Now both dogs were back on even ground. Both dogs showed deep gaminess with the Triplett bitch losing to the count trying to make it over. Sister made her courtesy scratch and the Triplett bitch went to where all the dead game ones go. Was a effort to try and save her, but of no avail.

The breeding to the Crenshaw's Black Jack dog x Truett's Sister was the last breeding made to this bitch dog. Truett's Sister had five puppies and died when the pups were around two weeks old. Only two male puppies survived.

J. Crenshaw told Mr. Truett to give his pup for the stud fee to Rowell. This pup was a reddish colored dog with black nose. Later this dog was owned by R. Hanton, dog's name was Hanton's Bo King. Hanton's Bo King was killed along with some other dogs owned by Hanton, by the law and humane society.

Mr. Truett had the other sibling black pup and called it Truett's Black Jack Jr. Black Jack Jr. was also lost when Mr. Truett was raided by the law and the humane society. Lost twenty four of his best breeding dogs along with much more. Later came back and won a good law suite over the illegal procedure that was done to him. His dogs were killed before he could get a ruling on the pending court case. Nothing to cheer about on this event. Take care all.

I guess it's not as uncommon as I once thought to see black / brindle or a multitude of any combination of colors OTHER then straight red for a tight Red Boy bred dog , I just don't have the experience being around them as others , so for me it's been an eye opener .... In a positive way lol

Ditto AlbinoRhino. I saw plenty of Red Boy's offspring. Look at the sibling pedigrees on this site. All where not Red with Red nose. The Bass Cleo bitch was a black dog. The Britches dog was a brindle multi colored dog with a black nose. Most that came red with red nose. Where the bitches direct off Red Boy that were red/red nose and bred back to Red Boy.

The Truett's Sister Bitch was bred by R. Williams and his Sandy bitch was off some of Mark's dogs that were black. Cheers

Hello Blood Brothers. While I was on the phone with Mr. Truett. I went over the pedigrees shown on the R. Hanton dogs. Especially the breeding's off Truett's Sister. He confirmed they were all correct. So if you have dogs bred down from the Hanton dogs. The pedigrees on the Hanton dogs listed on this site are correct.

Mrs. Truett who is younger than Mr. Truett and around my age. Has over the years kept very accurate records on the breeding of their dogs and studied many other pedigrees through all the SDJ magazines etc. Last time we talked, I told her she may very well be one of the last knowledgeable persons on the history of our dogs in the South East/Pee Dee area. Mr. Truett is getting close to ninety years old. Hope she keeps all his old records etc. for future reference.

I am not sure what will happen when Mr. Truett passes and his only former children by his first deceased wife take charge of his properties. Cheers

Most of what is left of Mr. Truett's dogs today are predominately black and white in color. Some of the color changes that took place even though he had Red Nose influence from the Red Boy line and the Joe Beal line of dogs. The Young's Red Man (Smith/Beal) and Young's (Beal's) Flame were both red/red nose dogs. The Young's (Beal's) Flame bitch looked like a clone replica of the Ole Ferguson Centipede dog.

It was when the Truett's (Young's) Black Beauty and Truett's (Middleton's) Prince dog were bred into his blood line. Is where the strong black/white and black dogs started dominating the colors.

R. Willams was a very good dog man that was good friends with Katie and Mr. Truett. He made some good breeding's off the best stud dogs that Katie had at that time. He crossed his Red Boy stock and crosses with the Truett's (Middleton's) Prince dog and got some excellent dogs. There should be some pictures of R. Willams, Truett's Prince x R. Willams' Red boy dogs over on the on lines pedigree site. Believe all are black and white dogs. Cheers

Okay, thanks to AlbinoRhino, we now have a photograph of Truett's Sister (http://www.thepitbullbible.com/forum/bulldog_profile.php?dog_id=27668).

Her black and white coloration at first seems odd, if she is a "pure Redboy" bitch ... however, she is NOT.

A careful review of her pedigree shows the very bottom part of the 4th generation is the breeding of Mark's Black Cat to Mark's Chocolate, to produce Mark's Sheila, whom I would bet dollars to donuts is a black bitch also.

Although the coloration isn't mentioned in Sheila, her daughter Barone's Cracher, nor her daughter (sister's mother) R. Williams' Sandy, I guarantee these bitches are all black also ... as black is a dominant color. So my educated guess would be the unbroken string of black coloration is coming from the very bottom-bottom side of the dam.

Below is a full-size image.

Thanks for sharing Mr. Rhino :-bd
