Does anybody give theyre older dogs human grade glucose supplements? After several months of buying the $15 90pill bottle of dog glucose @ wal mart for a few older dogs, I decided to get smart and walk down the human supplement isle. I found a brand of gel caps that has 1500mg of glucose, 1200 mg of chondroitin & (I believe) 500mg of msm.
Now, the one ive been giving labled for dogs is 650mg of glucose, 250mg of chondroitin (& I cant exactly remember the dose of msm), but ive been giving 2 pills daily (so double the serving listed, as labled per weight of dog). So I know im ok with the amount of glucose in 1 human grade pill. Its the amount of chondroitin & msm that scares me. My question is am I ok to go this route vs the stuff labled for dogs? As far as chondroitin & msm, how much is "too much"? 4 older dogs on cosequin adds up really fast! However if I am indeed able to go this route I can get over 300 capsules for a fraction of what im paying for the other stuff. Thanks in advance for your time & concern.
