First I would like to add this request to all our members. These type questions would serve us all better being asked on one of our Topic forums. So that any member that can contribute any info. can do so. This info is then saved for future reference, will be what makes our site so much better than any of the other A.P.B.T. internet dog sites.
First I would like to thank Realitytv for this question, as I became a great fan of the Creel bred dogs. Being that I owned one of the last pure bred ones (J. Young's Chuck). The question asked was; Are you familiar with Creel's Skip Ace... dog is sired by a dog called Lee's Hard Head.. haven't found a pedigree on Lee's Hard head... a bud of mine had the last of the Creel blood about eight years ago... a white male that was very aggressive... They also had a very good one from M. Flores...
The Creel bloodline/Flores was one of the older blood lines bred down from M. Carver's Iron Head dog blended with the Ed Crenshaw dogs, Boudreaux, along with the Klaus Zeke dogs. It is sad that this line of dogs may be no more. Is and was a excellent Catalyst blood line, to breed to any of the M. Carver dogs. This blood line showed M. Carver's Iron Head more so in the right generation line up in the pedigree. I am not sure, believe Iron Head was dead by the late mid 60's or late 60's. Do not think this dog lived into the early to mid 70's. If I am wrong and another member knows for sure, post the correct info. I will stand corrected.
The Creel bloodline would blend nicely with the Cox, Vise Grip dogs or heavy Boomerang/Art's Missy. One member on this site said he had access to some of the last Cox/Ronnie Hyde dogs bred like Jack's Poncho dog was bred out of. Was his business how he was going to breed that Cox bitch. I would have did much differently to preserve some of the last old Carver blood lines. Those pups would have been very valuable. Very few dog men of today wish to or know how to family breed dogs anymore. Many just bred to the latest stud sensation etc. how ever the breeding may show or how ever scatter bred the pedigree gets. LOL
I have no pedigree or have seen Lee's Hard Head dog personally. Is a blank pedigree on the on lines pedigree site as well. I have some missing pedigrees on my Creel dog way back there on Creel's Blaze,E. Crenshaw's Sargent and Creel's Pimm. I should have many years back called Mr. E. Crenshaw and did talk to one of the Creel brothers about my Chuck dog. Long distance calling back then was very expensive and when I called Mr. Creel I was calling to confirm that the Chuck dog was a dog of his breeding and I had the right dog. Which he confirmed I did. Did the same with our Orbie Coplin bitches Pokey and Tina. Was so expensive to call Mr. Coplin, we had to write letters.
Now there are two known Lee's that were notable dog men in my time period. One was a Lee out in the North West that was good friend's with Mr. Orbie Coplin. They bred and exchanged their Dibo/Colby dogs among each other.
The other Lee I believe lived in Florida or maybe Georgia. Thinking Lee had some dogs directly off E. Crenshaw's Reno dog. If in Florida was part of the Florida combine of dog men. Being Mr. Davis/Hands/Ramsey/ and some others I forget at the moment. If in Georgia may have been R. Hyde and company. I do know both Lee's had some good dogs and were competitors that chose to remain out of the lime light.
If there is any chance of finding the missing pedigrees on these Creel dogs. May could be found through the UKC listing as a lot of the older A.P.B.T. breeders did UKC register their dogs years before the ADBA came on the scene. If the UKC personnel would even help in such matters. No longer know their rules and guide lines. A few years back did talk to one of the lady personnel about the older Bloodlines magazines. Said they still had some copies of the 1950's/1960's for sale.
Anyone today that has some of the Creel/Flores dogs back there in their bloodlines. You had some of the first oldest breeding's that were made by M. Carver/E. Crenshaw etc. Cheers
