How much raw per lb of body weight should I feed?

Usually 2% is the starting point. 60% meats and 40% veggies, or thereabouts. Then like any feed, adjusting to the individual dog will dictate the amounts per meal.

40lbs X 16ounce/lb = 640 ounces
640 X .02 (2%) = 12.8 ounces per meal
7.68 ounces of meats
5.12 ounces of veggies

Then adjust as necessary to the dog. EWO

How many times a day or does that depend on the dog whether it needs more or less?

Damn 60/40? I personally shoot for about 70/10/10/10 with a multi vitamin

70 meat
10 bone
10 organ
10 fat

That is a starting point. Personally I don't feed the veggies every day. My meals are not as balanced as some. I make a veggie mix in some fish or chicken grease mixed with organ meat a couple three times per week. The rest of the week it is chicken backs and chicken necks, or whatever ends up in the scrap box from the local meat store.

I supplement as well but it is not a perfectly balanced meal every day. Not perfect but better than anything I can feed from a bag for the same or close tot he same amount of money. EWO

Forgot to add that is the BARF model. It is a good starting point as for RAW feeding there is a lot of information out there along the BARF model for feeding RAW. There are tons of models from BARF to feeding whole prey and most methods are bits and pieces of each other.

The method in the Pit Bull Bible is very basic, very inexpensive, yet very effective. That model is a good starting point as well and can be adequate or can be the start of a better plan.

Just need to find places or people in my area to provide me with the meat. So two pe recent of body weight a day, whether all in one meal or split up into two?

Depends on the dog and your situation.

Even dogs being fed dry food the person doing the feeding gets to know how much. 10 dogs in a row may get ten different amounts.

No different with raw. Start with the 2% and then move up or down to match the needs of the dog. EWO

Check the butcher shops. They usually have a scrap box with a little bit of everything. A freezer is a must as well. There are always sales in which buying in bulk or buying large amounts really saves a lot of money. Hit up the deer hunters in your area. They usually leave a lot of parts that work really well for the dogs.

The raw feeders that save the most money normally are the most creative. Heck, I even see craigslist ads where people are emptying out freezers. Best of luck. EWO

Best of luck. And in the winter don't forget to hit up the hunting crowd, not only for what they do not use but when they clean out the freezers. EWO
