Hey I got a older dog around 9 years old and I knew she had heart worms by the way she coughed a lll the time and sure enough a vet confirmed... Now she is starting to retain water really bad... need some advice on what I can do to keep her here for a little while longer any help would be greatly appreciated....

How long has she had the heartworms and how bad are they?
Since she is older, you might try the slow method of killing them since it is less hard on the dog. The stronger methods killed off the worms quickly but this meant larger clumps of dead worms in the dog's system which can cause major problems and death of the dog.
