Hi , have any of you used frozen seamen successfully ? I'd like to know your views on the results any of you have had from using frozen seamen, I mean on the quality of the pups , not if the bitch got in pup. Thanks WW

Camelot Farms sells the blood progesterone tests you can do at home. You get 10-24 tests for $124.95 vs the one test given by the vet.

Shit for everything here in Jersey it's about 1500 with the test and two surgical procedures

Hello. I have done some successful Frozen breedings as well as unsuccessful. I believe the doctor completing the procedure is the key ingredient. Of course as long as the sperm is of good quality. There wasn't any difference in my litters other than the numbers of pups aren't normally very large. Im actually getting ready to do another frozen in 2018 probably.

Good luck with your plans TGK, since I wrote this post I took seamen from an old dog and had it insaminated in a bitch , she had 2 pups but they both faded and died by 2 days old so unfortunately I didn't get to answer my own questions.

Its one procedure, not two. Couple of words of wisdom:

1. Use a young bitch. Old bitch with frozen semen is like shooting pool with a rope.
2. take your bitch for the first time on day 11. I've never had a bitch too late. If shes under a 2.00 , go back in 4 days not two. if shes at a 3, take her back in two days.
3. use a Trans cervical procedure drops the semen on the egg with a small camera. I like it better than surgery

excellent points
I would like to add
1) first and foremost check before buying sperm what the after thawing percentage is I have noticed lots of people sell sperm count before freezing ( I have seen it as worse as 50% which means u might need 4 to 5 straws to do a breeding )
2) ensure u have at least 1 million to 1,5 million sperm count in total for a breeding
3) use a specialist most just mess up the whole procedure
4) add to point 4 and 5 dont save on cash

Do ya'll use a local vet or a national bank for frozen semen storage?

Anyone? Does anyone use a national service for semen storage or is everyone doing it at the local level? I'm just shopping around.

I personally use my local vet who just happens to be a reproduction specialist in Georgia. I also have some at the Cryo bank in California.
