Hey guys, how would you measure the 250mg amoxicillin capsule for a 15lb pup? The recommended dosage is 5mg-10mg/lb of body weight every 12hr-24hr. Any help appreciated.
I'd dose the 250mg capsule.
12-24 hours is a pretty big span.
If Amoxicillin is my medicine of choice I use the one capsule at 250mg and then space them out about 18 or so hours apart.

:-bd. I'm with these two. Give the whole 250mg capsule. And I'd stick with every twelve hours.

Thanks for the replies.
So slightly over dosing won’t do any harm.?

Nope, done it many times. And in this particular case.. a little to much would be better than not enough or not often enough. I'm not a veterinarian so I'm not qualified to give medical advice but I can tell you what I've had experience doing that worked for me.

What are you treating?

Amox is like penicillin. It's a preventive type antibiotic. If you are already infected, I'd go with Cephalexin and move up from there as needed. Pup, 250BID and grown dog - 500mg BID
How long should you use it?
5–7 days or 48 hours after all symptoms have subsided. If no improvement is seen in 5 days, review diagnosis and change therapy.

Where is anyone getting Fish Antibiotics from?!? Everywhere I’ve looked is currently out of stock. Any help would be great!!
I always keep several fish antibiotics on hand so I had not checked recently. I see what you mean, they are listed as "Out of Stock". I usually buy mine from Countryside Pets --

I have also bought them on ebay too. I have not checked there since I have a supply, but I stopped buying them on ebay a few yrs ago when the prices went up. Amazon used to carry some and KV Vet used to as well.
Good luck, they should be back in stock at some point. Best to have a supply in the medicine cabinet.
