Are you talking about an active diagnosed case or prevention?
I give my dogs a dosage of 1% ivomec every month,year round, to prevent heart worms.One tenth of a CC per ten pounds.If they already have them ,I have been told to give them a very low dose over a long period of time to slowly kill off the worms so they do not die all at once and clog up in the heart.Best to be proactive and never let them get them in the first place.

She has heart worms now .
