Any of you gentlemen on here have any experience with mims eli carver crosses ?? Curious on how it worked out for you guys.
I just came back on the site. EWO may have not renewed. Not sure though. He is the expert on anything to do with the Mims' dogs and the various crosses to the Mims' bloodline. Cheers

Thanks for the response would love to get his opinion on a breeding I’m thinking about for the future
RoughHousekennels. EWO's pedigrees are on this site as US1's . Just enter that and click the male and female dogs. You can see he used a lot of the Mims' Red Boy line and other Mims' crosses. He has some tight Eli blood etc. One breeding off that Mac11 Goat dog.
EWO is very knowledgeable and has perfected a unique conditioning system that worked for him. When he was showing and weight pulling those dogs. Wish we had met many years back. His type keep would have worked very well with my Turn table system.
Last time we talked his work load was such and him getting older. He was on the verge of retiring from the dogs. I have been out of the dogs a long time. But you never get it out of your blood. Sort of merges into your DNA. LOL Cheers
The breeding you are thinking about making. Are both dogs pedigrees in this pedigree data base? I would like to look at it through the test breeding function. See what lines up and what does not. I always liked studying pedigrees etc. Cheers

I was able to generate the test breeding.keep in mind this is nothing i plan on doing anytime soon just want to get the opinion of others.
Hello Rough House I took a look at that test breeding. There are a lot of excellent foundational dogs on both sides. Plenty of Red Nose Lightner blood there- to Dibo-Corvino-Colby dogs.. Tramp Red Boy most likely carried a lot of Stidham-Hemphill blood.
If both dogs test game and are well built. Having no bad psychical traits. I see no reason not to breed them and see how it turns out.
We all have to start somewhere, should get some dogs with good hybrid vigor. You could line bred on each side. Long as you keep getting good to great dogs. Start out line breeding on the Gyp side to build up some future brood bitches to replace the old bitch. To much fascination on stud dogs today.
Regardless how you do it. Let your own dog sense and what you have seen of the dogs dictate how you continue to breed them. Any dogs show up with any type bad fault. Even if very game. Do not use that dog. I really liked my little Monkey bitch. Yet I know now I should have not bred her. Monkey was fiddle footed in the front feet and too big shouldered. I have seen that in Eli-Carver dogs. Another bad fault in the Eli-Carver and Mayfield dogs if in excess. Is a Roach back and some are Cow Hocked in the back end.
I saw that fault from Monkey come out in some of the V.J. dogs. Not all of them but some. Those type dogs and the ones I mentioned above can go lame if put through a hard keep etc.
If you are starting to work on your own bloodline. This breeding is good as any. Cheers

Thank you CYJ, I noticed you said focus on line breeding the gyp, that’s exactly my plan. She’s proven her self to be an exceptional bulldog mouth ability and very smart. I also have a litter of off her that are 3 months going to wait a few years to see how they do. Hopefully this male proves worthy of breeding on my yard... thank you for taking the time and helping me out!
Ditto Rough House kennels. The old timers I talked with believed you got the hybrid vigor and abilities from the male side. A stud dog should be well built and a very strong dog. With lots of tensile strength and pulling power. Being game is still a foremost important factor.
They believed the deep gaminess traits came primarily from the bitch side. A person might buy a male dog or puppies off a dog yard. But those well producing female dogs are seldom sold. IMHO, Generally a dog yard is no better than the female dogs they were bred from. Cheers

CYJ, I completely agree with that. It’s plenty of good males out for stud all over the world. Much much harder to come by a good producing bitch. Hopefully I got one
