Lossing hair while whelping pups

My gyp has pups about 5 days old. Her hair is falling out. What can cause this she has been on the puppy food for about 8 weeks. The picture shows about how much I rubbed off her today and the same among two days ago.

This is her. Her den is packed with straw and cedar chips. Do you think it could be the cedar chips? Or could it just be stress from the pups and moving inside?

i would take the ceder chips out of there. My friend lost 4 pups a few months ago because the chips got stuck to there tongs and chocked.
