Not as much as it will affect their personality's. If the puppy don't have enough space, not being able to stretch out properly and move around like dogs should. It can affect it's growth as well. No dog should be raised in a crate. If a crate is the only way you are able to raise that puppy I would ask you not to get that puppy in the first place. You probably have 2 many dogs as it is.

What the other two posters said, and to answer your question directly, YES, depending on the size of the crate, it can greatly affect their growth rate. The lack of sunlight isn't too fantastic for them, either.
