What can be done to stop the irritation? Is there a remedy or meds that can help because the eye seems to be getting worse. He keeps pawing at it. We tried the salt water remedy but it's not helping. Any info would be appreciated.

Vetricyn pink eye spray, you can get it at Tractor Supply. Make sure you get the liquid and not the gel. Imo the gel isn't as good.
Or you could use NFZ puffer also available at TSC.
