    picking a pup

Say you bred a litter and meant to split it at 6 weeks old how would you pick your pup's??

I go by size and colour may be way off the mark don't know but i pick the colour closest to the parent i like and the biggest pup's..

I go by intensity, intelligence, and how they move ...

I may not be able to "see" gameness in a pup (I rely on strength of breeding for that) ... but I damned sure can spot an athlete immediately

PS: My runts often are the best, pound-for-pound ...

This is why i like small litters. If you can keep em all picking isn't an issue

    How do you not?

PS: In a really solid litter full of uniformity, I generally make my decision by 9-12 weeks. Based on two decades of breeding results, I am almost invariably on the money in my impressions ... based on either what I see myself ... or based on the record and feedback I get as the pups mature into adults and get evaluated or compete.
