    Instinct Frozen Raw Diet's

I purchased the Lamb formula and according to their feeding guide my Patterdale should get a patty a day, it seems like a small portolion but then again this is my first time feeding raw to a dog, any suggestions on how to evaluate the portions?

P.S. The recomended portion is for a dog that weights 17 lbs and is very active.

what is a patty? whats on the package is just a guideline, i would feed at least feed 1,5x as much for such an active dog and then just keeping looking at the dog to see if it needs more or less. like with all food.

The patties are 8oz, I just gave him half of one and I will say it is a pretty good sized portion, he loved it, I will keep monitoring him. His stomach did plump up with this portion will be giving him the second half in the evening.

    1. Feed the dog what the package recommends for a week or so.

    2. Soon, the dog will either lose weight, gain weight, or stay the same.

    3. Based on how your dog responds to the recommended feeding portion, you will either add/subtract, or keep the ration the same, depending on how you want your dog to look.

Ok when he ate kibble or even cooked chicken he would always want water right after finishing his meal, I noticed that with the raw he dosen't want water, is this normal?, is it because of the moisture in the food?

    Exactly.

It is normal to see a decrease in water consumption because muscle meat contains about 75% water. My dogs very rarely drink from their water bowls.
