opinions on pitbulls in sport work...Schutzhund/Pro Sport/Personal Protection

A friend of mine does Sch. work with his Malinois and they did some sleeve work with him while we were over. All the traits he described in his Malinois are present in the pit bull. I have a set of drivey pups out back and I was thinking about pulling one out and pointing him in that direction. There is one bulldog in there club, he is Beaudreaux bred on the bottom (Skull) and some other "bulldog stuff" on top. He said he had dog aggression issues early but worked thru them. My dogs are usually fast starters and I am wondering if they could get by the animal aggression 'desires' to get that type of work done. Anyone ever tried it. Is it taboo to go that route with a bulldog? EWO

I think it's cool, personally. If a dog has an aptitude, why not maximize it?

One of the first dogs I ever bred, Vera's Ch Cinnamon, was almost a triple-crown winner. She was a conformation Champion, a Shutzhund titlist, and she was a 2xW to boot.

Wish I would have got into more stuff like that myself. I have had many dogs that I think would have done well like that. They were badass dogs, but mellow around other dogs, yet smart, athletic as hell, and on point.

Yes, Bob Stevens is still around. He won his case which was a big step forward.

Here is his web site – http://www.pitbullvictory.com/

He has also re-printed his DOGS OF VELVET & STEEL book and offers copies for $45 plus shipping.

And he has written another book about his court case, the EPILOGUE which he sells for $25 plus shipping.

Both of those books are on the home page above.

He even still has a few of the old Pit Protection VHS tapes for sale –
