The Pit Bull Bible 2014 GAME DOG of the Year
In all of gamedog history "ability" is pretty much the only thing that is rewarded, yet we as a fraternity always "talk about" gameness as being the defining trait of a BULLDOG, which separates our breed from all other breeds. And yet, when it comes to matches, we have 5 different titles to award "ability" (1xw/2xW, Champion, Grand Champion, BIS, and DOY), and yet we only have 1 title to bestow on our truly game dogs (GIS). This is a travesty in our opinion, and so The Pit Bull Bible Online APBT Database is now going to be giving out a brand new title called GAME DOG OF THE YEAR ... and our first recipient of this cherished title goes to Wildlife's Ch Lotto (4xW, 1xL, GIS) earned the very first Pit Bull Bible Official GDOY Award ever given. It is about time that our GAMEST OF GAME dogs get credit for what they do, so we decided to right this wrong ... and thus The Pit Bull Bible Official DOY Award title is born, and Wildlife's Ch Lotto (4xW, 1xL, GDOY) is its first recipient.
This fine animal won GIS on his previous match, for his 4th win, and he was choosing between Gr Ch Homer Balboa DOY and Gr Ch Titere DOY as his next opponent. Gr Ch Titere was the one who hooked, and the show went down ... with Ch Lotto coming out so strong in the chest he lifted Titere up off the ground with the force of his efforts ... and Titere responded by breaking Lotto's leg so bad it was only hanging by the skin, wrapped over Lotto's neck, but that didn't make Lotto miss a beat. He kept coming, and coming, against literally the best in the world, with a devastating injury, and (soon) while getting seriously ransacked by an elite level animal, but you couldn't tell this game dog that he was losing, no way
Any dog that shows extreme gameness deserves our respect, but when you show that kind of gameness, that far behind, being hopelessly-outclassed against that level of competition, you sir deserve our Highest Honors and so our first choice for GDOY goes to a truly worthy Candidate in Wildlife's Ch Lotto ...
With the winner being bestowed our very first (and the very first) GDOY in history, now we move to the runners-up. There will only be 3. Again, each is a great Candidate for any GDOY Title, and these Candidates were voted on by the community and analyzed by myself. These Honorable Mentions are a credit to their breed by demonstrating the most important trait our dogs are known for, and by doing so at the highest level they could. They are:

2The Neck Kennels' Ch April II (3xW)
I am again going against the voting a bit here, because (again) most people are thinking "Grand Champion," but in our opinion Ch April had arguably the most impressive year of 2014 (in both her ability and her gameness), which by beating TWO Champions and going 3:15 against the last one cannot be denied. Remember, gameness has to do with showing *the* most impressive resolve to win for the subject calendar year, and stopping Blood Bond's 4xW from making Grand Champion and then beating another Champion by staying with it all the way to win a 3:15 war shows "the will to win" at its uttermost
Hats off to this great bitch for twice being the runner-up in some truly elite company
2014 Second Runner Up
Work Kennels' Ch Texas (5xW, 1xL)
This was a tough call between Ch Texas (5xW, 1xL) and Gr Ch Homer Balboa (6xW, 1xL, DOY), both losing their Grand Champion titles, one to a Champion the other to a Grand Champion/DOY respectively. The latter dog (Balboa) lost to the new and 3xDOY in Titere, while the former dog lost to Titere's 2nd cousin who became a Champion. Ultimately, I favored Ch Texas because he fought at the advanced age of 7 years old, which means he did not have his full set of tools any longer, and yet he still went over 2 hours, never giving up, despite the odds against him. The best news is, he survived afterward and will now enjoy the good life as a retired former Grand Champion and a truly game bulldog.
2014 Third Runner Up
Tactician's Ch Ace Homer Balboa (6xW, 1xL, DOY)
Ch Homer Balboa is the second elite-level victim of Gr Ch Titere, losing his Grand Champion status in the process, even though he was in his prime (and 2 lb bigger than Titere). While the latter fact underscores just how good Titere is, there were also hints that Homer Balboa wasn't in the best shape, and had some odds against him in that regard, so it should not be forgotten that Homer Balboa lost like a bulldog, regardless, still wanting more, even though he was hopelessly-outclassed facing the best living dog on Planet Earth. Again, hats off to this all-time-great dog.
