    Heartworm Treatment

Got a guy I work with. Dog (mixed breed) has heartworms.
Isn't there something I can do with Ivomec to treat his dog so he doesn't have to go to the vet.
I've got some guys that have given me some advice that makes sense.
I myself have given Ivomec to a dog with Heartworms b/f and actually rid the dog of heartworms over time.

Any sound, safe, practical advice is appreciated. His wife is in a tizzy so anything that makes sense real soon would be helpful.

Yes, there have been some recent studies done on treating heartworms with the Ivermectin and with doxycycline, the so called "slow" kill method.

The doxy is to treat a parasite that actually lives inside the heartworms called Wolbachia.

Here is a link about this --

If this is a mixed breed dog, does it have any collie or herding dog in it? Collies and herding breeds are known to have a sensitivity to Ivermectin so do keep that in mind…

    Hope this is helpful.
Common sense isn't so common these days.

If you want to read more, you can search google for "heartworm treatment ivermectin" and that brings up more articles.

Good luck and I hope the pooch does not have a bad case and can get cured pretty easily.
