Thumbs Up CANDIDATES FOR DOY/GDOY 2015

Folks, it will be August tomorrow ... and only 4 months to go for another DOY title (time flies when you're getting old )

Who do you like for Dog of the Year, and why? Who did they beat? What is their record?

Who do you like for Game Dog of the Year and why? What obstacles did they overcome to win? What obstacles couldn't they overcome ... yet never stopped trying?

This is going to be an ongoing candidacy for a few months, so we give EVERYONE a fair shake (pros, cons, etc.)

Who is your call ... and why?

Rage, you know I am a huge fan of Titere, and I do not have a problem giving him a 3rd title ... IF he deserves it ... but I am not sure his struggling to beat a 2xW in 2 hours qualifies.

Winning 8 might be a valid argument for DOY ... but what were the credentials of his opponent, other than whipping a relative of Titere?

Titere met the challenges of other CH's & GR CH's, I think it says a lot about the dog and the camp taking on a younger 2xw who defeated his relative. Jack you've said yourself it is risky for a GR CH to take on a 1xw or 2xw because generally they are younger and have less miles and also if the GR CH looses he/she becomes less valuable (to some) and by old SDJ rules goes back to CH status.

    Yes, absolutely.

I remain a huge Titere fan and I consider him the finest, most accomplished dog alive on Planet Earth

However, within the context of "this year," I do not think what he did qualifies him for winning DOY ... but, within the context of his entire career, Gr Ch Titere would have the be the DOG OF THE DECADE ... if not, arguably, once of the most accomplished dogs of all time.

But the standards for a DOY title can't look at "the whole career" ... we can only look at which dog had the most accomplished YEAR, this year

His winning 8 does qualify him though, as a Candidate, and his coming from way back cements his greatness forever.

Whether he only remains a Candidate, or is elevated once again to receive the designation, will depend on all the facts laid out over the next few months, compared to other Candidates.

I hope he remains retired. He has nothing left to prove.

GrCh's Gizzy, Grip, Titere and Nereyda, then with some more shows to put on dogs like Russian Bobby & Puma might storm to the finish. Ch Jocker might be adding himself to the mix with a showdown soon as well.. Once I get to my laptop I'll add my reasons why. Be patient with me please.

I like Gizzy but his opponents records aren't up there with the rest. Puma is said to be a great but he has a ways to go to be a DOY Candidate...

In Gizzy defense he has actively chased 2 Chs at that weight who keep pushing back or retiring and then un-retire to beat a lesser dog. He still hunting tho and might have best record for season season.. Puma isn't done and he just defeated a ch in a blowout and stalking another..

Who did Gizzy beat this year (again "actively chashing" Champions isn't an accomplishment).

Gizzy, Russian Bobby, and Puma are not in this database, does anyone know their pedigrees or have any photos?

    Thanks!
