    GREAT CROSSES OF YESTERDAY

Name some crosses that were exceptional and popular for a time but are almost impossible to find today...

Andy Capp / Gonner is one, as is Alligator / Tonka / Red Baron.

I know of a few camps out there that still run both crosses but none (and with good reason) let anything go to the ''public''.

Kemmer x Doucet crosses come to mind. I wouldn't say they were popular because they weren't made available to the general public but it produced Bulldogs. Kemmer's Hank snow would be one example of this cross. Comeaux's Raghead POR was bred to Kemmer's Pocahontas, Pocahontas is another example of the Kemmer x Doucet cross.

Alligator x Sorrells; as this blend was done in the past in the u.s. theres more of this blend being admired across the oceans.

Those Tonka Red Baron dogs would be nice. That’s the mentality I like. Are any out there or crossed into other things.

While there are a few camps that have maintained the blood in the U.S. it's pretty rare but the cross is thriving in Russia. Other crosses that are working overseas are Tonka / Red Baron / Little Gator and Alligator / Panama Red / Tonka / Red Baron.

Are there any old timers to say whether they keep the family traits or only have the name and pedigree

He did look rough but I am thinking he was really old in that pic.

But he did look a few pounds shy.

I was on another forum and came across a Lonzo x Colby cross by TL Weaver that apparently produces winners that l, in turn, produced winners. I believe the dog was Weavers Harley. Also, any cross that contained the Kominski dogs. To my knowledge that line died out.

I've always had a passing interest in Walter Komosinski and his line, I know they were known for being very game and there were rumors that they had English Bull Terrier outs. Ozzie Stevens had a lot of respect for Komosinski and ran some of his blood but to my knowledge no one is running it today crossed or otherwise. When Walter Komosinski's health started to go he had his entire yard euthanized so I'm sure that had a impact on it.
