Thread: pedigree database

If you want consistency, there is only one way to breed: family breeding. If you want to play hit-n-miss guessing games, then make random crosses and mixes ... as ALL major breeders are/were family breeders.
It is the only way to fixate traits.

BTW, here are some more "pretty famous" dogs that were highly-inbred (all calculated @ 10 generations):

    Gr Ch Zebo (7xW) ROM - 52%

    Gr Ch Buck (7xW) ROM - 38%

    Gr Ch Gizmo (7xW) ROM - 41%

zebo was inbred a a three way cross so was buck and gizmo now granted there were tight bred on some dogs but that is exactly what i was trying to say but honestly there is till no way to say one has the master plan on breeding otherwise be no need to get it any were else certain crosses threw history have made great dogs as well that were not inbred at all comes down to what u feel will bring forth the best in your breedings you cant tell the next man how to breed what he feeds and spend countless time on in the end your gonna breed the way u want too with what u have or can get your hands now maybe im just humble but im not gonna say there is only one way to breed cause thats just not right either imo

Note: I did not say there is only one way to breed ... I said there is only one way to get consistency in breeding ... there is a major difference in meaning

And BTW, Zebo was a father/granddaughter inbreeding off of a very inter-related background

I just added this dog to the databse, Outback Kennels' Gr Ch Junior (6xW), a 39% inbred dog.

His pedigree is an interesting study of Champions & Grand Champions in the 4th Generations ... who become losers and unmatched dogs in the 2nd & 3rd Generations ... who are then interbred to once again produce a 6xW Grand Champion.

This goes to show that, if you're confident in your line, you don't need to panic if you don't have Champions & Gr Champions in every generation ... no one does. All you have to do is keep re-shuffling the deck and, if you make the right choices and hang onto the right traits, you will once again have complete dogs.

PS: BTW, Gr Ch Junior's ancestor, Gr Ch Chuck (6xW), was a heavy brother/sister-bred dog @ 50%
