    story and question

So there was this guy who had a dog that didn't see to many strangers in it's life. The owner, his wife, occasionally a friend and friends kids.

Said dog is 15m old and acting real good. So guy decided to take dog to woods to find a hog for a short hunt. Guy arrives at the woods where hogs are known to be. Gets greeted by owner of the property. Dog meets owner. Guy places dog on chain. Plan is to hunt for hog the following day. After a few beers and shooting the shit the dogs owner decide to go to sleep cause he has some running around to do early in the morning. The dog is on a chain right by the house of the owner of the land. After the owner of dog lays down the land owner went to go pet the dog. And dog growls at him. He still walks to the dog and then he gets a lil nip. So he Wakes up the owner to tell him this. And he is all running his mouth about the dog won't hunt and maneater cur all that b.s. So land owner thinks there's a hog in the woods that's gonna put a hurting on the dog. And probably hoping so cause dog nipped him a few times. (Never drew blood) so land owner acting all pissed can't wait. We gotta find a hog tonight. He knew just where one might be. Will say dog was about 60 and we found a 80 lbs hog.
Well the dog, Being its first time hunting. Worked the hog good. Was on top most the time. Went face to face. Worked the chest and legs. And hit the stifle for a min too. The hog we found was not into good of shape kinda over weight and was gassed in about 10. The lil dog gave 2 good runs back into the hog. And I owner calls it good for the dogs first practice hunt. Land owner aint got to much to say after words but says he wouldn't keep dog. Now I've herd many opinion on the subject.

What's tolerable to you when it comes to showings sign of HA?

As someone that owns/owned dogs that are HA with strangers, I say the land owner is a fuckin idiot. If the dog is growling at you, why are you testing the dog? It's not YOUR dog. If the dog doesn't bother the owner, the wife, and kid, who gives a fuck what some idiot has to say. At one time, probably half my yard would growl, try to bite, or look crazy at strangers, and I was fine with that. They're not doing that to me. They only have to please me. If the dog whipped the other dog's ass, and the land owner says he wouldn't keep him, it's because 1) His sloppy ass dog got exposed and 2) His dumbass got exposed. The dog owner should keep the dog and do his thing and fuck what anyone else says about his dog. Just make sure he explains that THIS dog doesn't like strangers. After that, it's on the stranger wanting to pet the dog.

My wife has a friend who has a basset hound that is 15 years old. They asked me to look at his mouth because he is starting to have issues with his teeth and gums. I put my hands near his mouth and he growled. I proceeded. I moved his cheek back to see the area and he growled, then a quick snap. I gripped the top of his muzzle and checked his gum. As I was letting him go he bit the shit out of me. A dog can only tell someone so many times that he is going to bite. If all his warnings, or even his one and only warning, are ignored, then the person being bit carries the overwhelming majority of the blame. Way back when we got our thumbs and the ability to reason we are suppose to be smarter than them, just does not seem to happen that way all the time. EWO
