    Well, that certainly is a good feed, so can't see a food allergy problem being the cause ...

    Might he have a fungus on his nuts or some other such malady?

    If it's any kind of a topical fungus or bacterial infection sulfurated lime dip reigns supreme ...

    Thanks, I'll try that just to be certain. Ive brought him in the house since I first posted and bathed him, etc... Just been keepin an eye on him and working on the "behavior" so to speak.
    I intend to send him back to the yard when I know for certain he will not harm himself. Ill be honest though, I've seen dogs do a lot of dumb shit but when we spotted this one chewin on his nut like a gum ball it really took me a moment to process what I was seeing

    Good feed doesn;t mean there can't be a food allergy. It might also be a protein intolerance for the particular animal used in the feed.
    Weird spot tho.

    An old trick for people eating their nails was quinine.
    Regarding nut self-licking for humans, I think yoga could do wonders, also in money preservation strategies as it costs a hell less than a girlfriend. Obviously the above statement is based on strictly personnal experience.
