    Project Answer this fact

Since your so hung up on mayfield an his truth seeking an being truthful. Why is it that he bred an based everything he had off the paper hung dog nigger. Tudors Jeff only sired one litter his whole life. Leo kinard. E Crenshaw and Freddie jones was never able to get Jeff to sire a litter after he went sterile in his first keep. So quit preaching all your bs cuz your long lost lover mayfield based his whole yard off a dog falsely paper. So why don't you run him in the ground like you are others. An the blind bill dog of Floyd's came from Tudor. Tudor told him the dog was bred as Floyd says an earl admitted this. So instead of bashing Floyd. Bash the breeder earl Tudor. If the dog was paper hung it wasn't Floyd's fault. Better listen to mr fox am get the corn cob out your since don ain't here to pull it out for you.

Seems like I am missing something or a previous thread. But in theory, Mr. Mayfield could have liked what he saw in Nigger and bred down from him and started at that point. Regardless of how he was bred or papered he could have been the starting point. He then perpetuated the line by breeding desired traits of those offspring. So and so on. Granted it helps to know what one is starting with but it is not a necessity. Many greats of the past have a pedigree that is either in question or out right false. If all the papers in time were 100% correct half the message boards/forums would have to shut down for lack of content!!!

Now that Mr. Hughes has passed (as I am against using other people's names in a public forum) he once told us the only way to find out how a dog is really bred is to win three or four and then produce a couple-three champions. Once that happens there will always be someone to come out of the wood work knowing how said dog is really bred. Happens most every time. I use this quote/statement often.

Buck has a pedigree papered one way and most believe he was bred another. Gr. Ch. Virgil has one set of papers, came from the classifieds, and is believed to be a straight Panther dog by some. On this board Jack has said Poncho's pedigree was incorrect or at least he believes so.

So like the 2nd post said, let the philosophy begin. Most will agree consistency comes from breeding like traits from within a family and most people use pedigrees to help in picking mates in the beginning....if these great producers were bred to their actual family would the success rates be the same?. Since they were bred a certain way in the beginning and produced well, which in reality would make an unknown cross, should we breed two unrelated dogs (total cross) find the best one and then start from there? In reality I think that is what happened with these dogs. They were originally bred a certain way based on traits and lineage only to find out later the lineage is incorrect. So maybe trait to trait can work as well as family & trait to family & trait. Just saying. EWO

apologize for the rambling. trying to make it the shift change. it has been a long 12 hours. EWO

i always wondered that myself EWO. since these dogs are all so closely related i always thought trait to trait could work. also when you ;look aty most crosses they are really not that out crossedlike eli carver or eli bolio carver line and the bolio line and the eli line all are bred down from dibo prety closely and carver used dibo black widow and bred form there and bolio also has black widow in him i beleive

That is pretty well how it was. Trying to argue over what Mayfield said. To what Boudreaux said to him over the phone 40 years ago. Even if taped, which is not even allowed in a court of law unless a Judge allows the line to be taped. Is akin to grabbing a cur dog by it's ear and swinging it around. A whole bunch of whining but that is all it is. LOL

If that breeding was that important to Don. He had Cry Baby for at least one more year and owned the stud dog also. Why did he not repeat the breeding? How do we not know if he did not and some of those black dogs he had might be Eli's siblings.( How is that for getting a rumor started forty years later.) LOL Hey Don what is with all those Black dog's Don? Are they off Spooky or Cry Baby LOL.

What I do know is the Mayfield dogs back then crossed real well with the Clayton/Hathaway dogs. One being my Young's Face bitch and M. Gainey's Eight Ball dog, sibling brother to Face. Like to have a yard full just like them two.

Project has called me a few times. Not much to really talk about since I am not a active dog man and he appears not to be as well. He seems to pretty well be a single and free agent type person. Wishes to check out those last Mayfield dogs he has, might could move over to a oriental country or ole Mexico and get it on.

I would listen to Don talking on those tapes. I had of his and the You tube ones. Of how anything that came off Tudor's yard was some Extra Pure blooded dogs. Pure this and Pure that. Mr. Heinzl wrote a article about that one time. Like he said everybody who ever got into the dog game had to get their first dogs from somebody else. Those older dog men got theirs from some else and so on and so on. LOL

If we search our ancestors far enough we all came from Adam and Eve. LOL For those who think the far, far away Aliens made your family from cross breeding to monkeys. So be it and more power to you. My opinion on that is some of my ancestor's did hang from a tree. But it was from a Rope not by their tails. Cheers

ProjectX, by striving to be so dogmatic about the whole thing. Ended up getting banned from this site. I will say it here or to him. To jump on Randy Fox like he did was uncalled for. Randy was telling it like it was. Randy lived right there amongst Earl Tudor/Don Maloney/Jim Williams/DeCordova etc. He saw many of those dogs and when they were bred etc. on a first hand bases.

Was right there in the thick and thin of what was going down in the 70's 80's 90's probably the mid 60's as well. He has a very informative internet site of His own. Very good reading and insight of some of the past dog men and dogs of yester year. Cheers
