So would an all around dog necessarily needs to know how to hit the head, chest, arms, guts, stifle and throat to be considered an all around dog?

A DOG THAT CAN ADAPT IS THE KEY. I DOG THAT CAN RIDE THE HEAD IF HE NEEDS TO/ GO THE CHEST IF HE NEEDS TO, GO TO THE THROAT IF HE NEEDS TO, ECT...

Naw... Its easy to create the perfect dogs on these complete dog threads. Adaptability is a great attribute if a hound uses that frame of mind in a effective way it can also hurt the ones that give up good holds just out of pure drive to bite as many spots as they can.

Not really sure what you meant...but I meant to say that would a really great all around dog knows when it's the time to go on defense and ride the head or when is time to hit the chest, arms, guts & stifle? Or would most people consider a dog an all around dog if it is durable, game, good wind, good wrestling abilities, etc...but is only a head dog or a chest dog..etc?

Yes personally i would consider the underlined a all around hunter

I meant to distinguish the differnce in a slasher who hits fast and hard never staying in hold, and a smart hound that will adapt to its situation.

Forgive my wording from lastnight i drank a few to many and got on here fixing pedigrees and pretending to know what im talking about.
