My City trying to make me get rid of my pitbulls about 25 years ago.
First I was in the country. Then the Town of Goldsby Annexed me. Then they sent out a letter that they were going to zone the people all around me and me. That way we could only have three dogs. I ask the city hall to have a meeting with me. I ask a lady behind me to spread the word because they will go to work on your Chickens, Cows, Horses and any other animals next. There were approximately 75 people who had 2 and 1/2 acreas to 20 acre plots around me. There were around 70 people that showed up with me for that meeting. There were not that many seats but everyone stayed. Everyone gave a statement and they were angry statements. The city manager ask me how many dogs I had at the time. I said 16. They said what are you doing with 16 pitbulls? Before I could say a word the lady behind me Jumped up and said in an angry tone. Whatever ever he wants to do with them is his buiness and not your business. If he wants to raise them and sell them or whatever he wants to do is none of your concern. He had those dogs before you annexed this place and they do not bother anyone around him. Then other people started shouting with anger support for me. I was shocked, pleased and had no idea people could be that supportive. Anway the city dropped the matter and have not brought it up again. I had made friends with all my neighbors and explained to them my past. I told them I do not fight dogs anymore and they all seem to like me. I have all types of retired people around me as well as lawmen and retired lawmen. When we see each other. We all smile and talk. What a great place to live. Randy Fox

Glad it has worked out for you Randy. I sure hope they leave it alone from now on.

Mr Fox I do think that many dogmen miss out on getting the support they need by trying to stay clear of their neighbors. I have 3 houses near me but not next to me. The smallest lot is 2 acres. closest one is the retired county sheriff who brings over bones from the butcher for the dogs all the time but I also help him with his yard work when I see him trying to do stuff that his wife yells at him about. Other neighbor has thoroughbred race horses. His wife is a animal lover (kinda nutty) She has a rescue dog that I'm helping her train around the horses. The other neighbors have chickens and had a few come up missing. I set up my trail camera and found out it was a fox getting them and took care of that for them. So they all seem to like us and our mutts.

wrknapbt, I think that is good to help your neighbors and talk to them. If you don't befriend them. They might get suspicious and think you are hiding something from them. Sounds like you are on the right path.
