That is true, S_B, the bat ears show more personality and character ... I just think the full-drop ears are more regal/majestic.

But that is an interesting theory that they may be tougher in order to support the weight

All the bat eared ones I've experienced had fine ear leathers, which didn't need much cartilage to stand..I have seen heavy ear leathers on a few(moreso todays dogs)and they have lots of thick/big cartilage, which doesn't appeal to me. Just as dropped ears, if they are big and thick, they'll sure as fate catch them in something..lol

I used to get it on occasion. This dog doesn't have a true bat eared dog in his pedigree until the 6th generation, Smith & Walton's CH FOX who I fed daily and bred several times. I keep telling folks it takes 4-6 generations for traits to resurface, unless you get to a level of inbreeding where the dogs produce themselves with greater regularity.
