Thread: $100 YEARLY MEMBERSHIP TO THE PBB

  1. #21
Since starting this thread I've thought about the increase in membership dues.

For me personally it will effect my membership. I most likely will not renew for the reason given for the increase.
As well as the privileges being taken away because of the action of a couple bad seeds.

It's like culling a bloodline because of a couple curs.

I think this database, forum and all of the informative content is well laid out. The thought put into the concept and the work is absolutely stellar. Jack you and your brother did a fantastic job!

I actually thought the initial membership fee was too modest and that $45-$50 was actually worth paying and more in line with all the features offered here as opposed to other sites similar.

This place has been built with the best of intentions and it shows. It also shows because of the members who have come aboard here. Those that have spent many hours inputting flawless data entry. And those who have corrected the mistakes of others not so careful.

Although this database is awesome, it wouldn't be so without the great folks here to seed it and help it grow and evolve.

And furthermore being frugal doesn't make me a broke dick, and $100 bucks isn't fly shit.

I have like 12 of my own dogs registered. All I basically like to do is upload a new photo to their profile once in a while, edit a pup name and maybe I'm lucky enough to change some titles. Further I enjoy the forum, and that's really everything I use. Some articles were very helpful but they r in my head now.

Does my personal use of the entire "resource" value the price, no. Is it reasonable for me to pay a 100$ for that, also no.

I do have subscription untill end 2015 because of last years Christmas deal, so let's see what happens. Wonder what's the latest update about when we're getting rights back to edit details and add photo's to personal dogs??

Thank you, TJ, sorry I missed this.

Sincerely appreciate your support for all these years, since the late-90s.

    Hats off to you

For those who just can't bear to spend $100 "all at once" ... I have created a "low hurdle" option, by creating the ability to order monthly.

The monthly low-step fee is $10.

You actually only pay $8.33/month buy choosing the $100/year option, so you will ultimately save money by going yearly.

But if it doesn't fit into someone's budget to plop down $100 all at once, then there is now a $10/month option.

Once again, I sincerely do appreciate the efforts of those who have contributed good pedigrees into this database, as well as those who have made thoughtful posts and made an effort to contribute their time here. I really do. I think if people read my own post count, they can see I have made my own contributions here also ... not even factoring-in the effort it took to create the site itself, the $20,000 out of my pocket to pay my brother, the posted articles (and the months of time it took to create them), the videos (and the months of time it took to create/edit them), etc.

I honestly don't believe what is ultimately an $8.33/month charge should trouble most adults, with the basic skills to survive in life, and who can appreciate spending a bit more to get something truly superior.

As mentioned previously, I myself spend $150/month to sustain this place (which is $1,800/year). Nobody bothers to think about that stuff. So when considering my own efforts and expenses to create and maintain this medium for everyone else, it's hard for me to feel sorry for any individual "stopped in his tracks" at the thought of spending a mere $8.33/month to enjoy the fruits of MY considerable time, labor, and expenses involved in what I have tried to put together here ... just because that person has "entered-in some pedigrees" too.

I will honestly miss the presence of anyone who has truly taken the time to make this a better place, but I am not budging on my price increase. With a realistic perspective, $8.33/month is not a big deal, it simply is not, and I am likewise quite sure those who leave this place over such a small amount will miss it here also. And the rest who stay will NOT miss the whining and complaining and can concentrate on the content.

    Thanks,

    Jack

You said you wanted "less and not more" and I believe you will get your wish. I rarely have time to get on here and that also plays a role into my decision. If I used this site all day, every day then maybe 8.33/month wouldn't be bad. But for folks like myself who don't have a lot of free time on their hands and don't get on here much, it's foolish to pay 8.33/month and not use it. I'd like to be able to log on if I feel like it but I won't loose any sleep if I don't. Either way, best of luck with the site and your goals.

    I hear you Treez;

I am awfully busy myself, busier than most people can possibly imagine, so reducing my "yard" here to just a few quality "dogs" sounds fantastic to what time I do have.

As far as I am concerned, the people who don't come here much, and don't do much, won't be missed much ...

A person can only be "missed" in direct proportion to the time, efforts, knowledge, and contributions they make ... and I am quite sure I stand out in the "less than 1% club" there.

And here's the rub: I could lose 2/3rds of my existing customers and still make the same profit (slightly more, actually) ... with 2/3rds less hassle/complaints/mistakes ... and I like the sound of that immensely.

    Cheers,

    Jack

regardless...ill still probably shell out the 100 bucks because i like the site, use the database and the blogs. but black hand brings a very good point. with the less amount of customers... will this site remain being what it is? if the ammount of dogs being loaded suffers do to lack of users, what would pick up the slack? maybe making the PBB available for reference on the site? not a pdf that can be downloaded & pirated, but more of an archive for quick reference? with that & an updated drug reference id say that would make it 100% worth the $100 alone...(or maybe im just wishfull thinking! LOL)

    Thanks for your support.

And, actually, I do have to get busy on that drug database. (So many ideas, so little time). I am actually updating the PBB also, with new drug info, source info, as well as others.

Regardless, this site will always be what it is: the best database period.

I will be appointing new permission levels to folks as well, based on Merit, beginning next year, when things slow down for me.

But I am sure many of those who say they won't pay it, ultimately will.

Just like I "said," I would never pay more than $2,000 for a TV ... and just shelled out $3,700 for one ... and am glad I did

As Jesse Rods said, "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of 'low price' is forgotten ..."
