Thanks man, that was from the heart too.

To people who take the time to be really conscientious, who are truly into studying pedigrees, adding historical photos, and who want piece of data they add to COUNT towards its fullest potential, they are going to feel the same as you do.

And that is who this place is for ...

    Cheers & thanks again!

I use it to hide my peds from the peds online stalkers so the 100 helps me hide cause the cheap ones in my area wont pay the 100. I dont reg dogs so this helps me keep up with and prove my breedings if i ever needed to. Imo this site is more dogman friendly vs peds is for the beginners and mess carrying people. I doubt many people will pay the hundred to just talk shit about people all day. And most any dogman can and should be able to invest 100 dollars to further his education, not saying that everything on here is the gospel but everyone can learn from this site. I spent 2 hours the on here the over night testing breedings to 2 dogs.

The $70 price hike after so many good folks have come here and contributed to the growth of this place is just kind of insulting, at least I feel that way. Had the price always been the 100 bucks it would be a non issue, it isn't a matter of worth but more a matter of principle.

Especially for the initial reasons given...

I don't think anyone here who is a rational thinking business minded person would disagree with protecting ones investment. That should have been top priority from day one. I think there was a little to much freedom on the pedigree side of this, which is ultimately what got us here.

I'll say for me personally the initial price was certainly well worth it, to modest as I already stated previously. Which is why when I renewed recently (before the changes) I did not ask for the rewards of data entry Jack offers. Not only did I choose to make my monetary contribution without claiming the prize offered, I sprung for the book (which content is displayed here for anyone who subscribes to see) as further show of support.

Now if the 100 bucks was an initial membership fee, with a yearly renewal of a lesser amount (like half), then I'd be behind it 100%. That would make more sense at to protecting ones investment to me.

But ultimately if someone wants to come here and harm things $100 isn't going to deter them.

Very well said, SB. The "principle" you speak about was factored into my decision as well. And I believe Steely hit on that point also in his comment. But I am making financial cut backs so that part was no BS.

S_B, the guys who come here and do good work, like yourself, will not be left out in the cold. No way.

Remember, I have the Awards Program, and there is no way I am going to run off a contributing member like you, or like CYJ, or anyone who's truly doing good work here. No one like that has anything to worry about.

But people who don't do shit, or (worse) who mess up my database with lousy data ... off they can go

I don't need people who don't add pedigrees, who post links to other pedigree sites, etc. Don't need them at all.
As for the price, price hikes happen all the time, and I agree my initial price was too modest. Now, it is not.
This is an elite place, and it is going to stay priced as one.

All anyone has to do when they come here is ADD GOOD PEDIGREES ... and they ensure a free year's subscription for themselves.
Add enough, you get 2 years; add enough, get a lifetime pass.
Don't want to add peds, but want some extra months added, then refer a paying customer.

But for those who don't add anything here, or who mess things up, then they have to PAY to get in here, and they will lose their privileges if they mess up the data.
I can't be any fairer than that, I don't think.
Ultimately, people prove their worth by what they do/don't do.

I reward those who do; I won't reward those who don't do; and I will remove anyone who messes things-up, be it by way of incompetence or malice.
There are indispensable people here, and there are dispensable people here, and I know the difference.

As for changes, I tried to give people adult freedom here, and I agree, there was a little too much , which has changed.
No one can sabotage the site anymore, and that's the way it's going to stay.

Certain people will ultimately be allowed to make changes, again based on merit, but no one will ever be allowed to make deletions again.

In closing, I thank you sincerely for all you have done.

    Jack

Not trying to tell anyone what to do with their money but i have a few pro's vs a few con's.
    1. I use this data base as my register for my dogs. I dont use adba.
    A. cause when i make a breedings, i can put a pix of the breeding up (pix worth a 1k words) so no one can deny that the breeding took place. Adba cant prove who Gr ch buck is off of nor can a pix of tater or golden boy being berd to red lady but it eases the question
    B. If jack place and extra slot under the breeding for pix then i would place another pix of the litter of pups.
    2. If you pay to register your dogs then this data base is worth the price of two 6 plus litters a year.
    3. In my personal usage it lets me escape peds online pedigree stalkers and followers ( so if the dog thieves that stole are not on here then they lost)
    4. Last but not least, its more dogman friendly on this site which translate into more education on things needed.

on the other hand the hike is triple what it use to be which makes in seem a little high, but it is what it is. shit today gas $2.87 here tomorrow prob $3.99. I think im up for a free year this year anyway for the 100 peds added thing. Lol. But seriously I would like more freedom to at least add or delete pix when i want and another slot for pix on the breeding page to show the litter together at birth. I would also like a print options for the peds so that i could have a hard copy as computers are not always an option and if i sold a dog i would like to give out a ped. Just my thoughts

Jack, do i understand correct that managing dogs/breedings I own cannot be done untill 2015? That's really the basics one desires when registering to a dog database don't you agree? As if it wasn't bad enough that i cannot upgrade pictures of dogs i own in first slot

No, you'll have access long before that.

Make a list of the dogs you personally own and send this to me. With the photos you want updated.

Reading many of the comments about the price increase got me thinking….

Since this is directly due to the wrongful actions of only a very few members, why not have a different pricing for long time members who have been with this site for several years and for those who have contributed to this community?

Such as a Contributing Member with fee set at $40 a year, or a Long Time Member with a fee of $50 a year? Wouldn’t it be a good idea to reward those who have been on here for some time and who have taken the time to enter a large number of dogs?

Just a thought…. Back to fixing plumbing… haha!

I do see that Jack has addressed most of these issues in his post which I won’t quote as it is all there above.
Common sense isn't so common these days.
