Its called a "gay tail". As far as genetics go I don't believe it is genetically inherited, just my opinion though and that is because I had a dog that had a gay tail, the only one out of the litter with a gay tail and the dogs sire and dam didn't have gay tails and the generation before that didn't have gay tails. I think it is more an "it happens" type of thing.

    Re: Curled tail

Working dogs come in a variety of looks. This is because they are bred down off dogs that WORKED. Not bred based off looks. This is bulldogs 101, the basics.

If the dog is game who freaking cares about the damn tail. I don't.

Look at the dog on the the home page of the ADBA. Its tail isn't as curled as your dog but it is curled more than most.

Back when i was breeding with B.Davis, I personally did not breed to "Midnight Cowboy" and he was standing right next to me. I was up there to breed o the other 2 "Chivo & Boomerang" but back to the tail curl, that was always a trait of the Cowboy dogs and I have seen probably a 100 or more, and as things got intense it would even curl more, so really it is just a trait from some lines as I can see. I was very good friends with l. Kelley that owned "Divines Jodie" just never put her in his name because we all in the same area and friends. But I have seen him take "Jodie" which was bred from (M.Cowboy x Patty) 3 times and bred her to "Chivo" and watched many of the offspring and seems 95% of them would have that curl in the tail.
