The responsibility of being a good mentor
People will repeat, what they have learned, and when a pattern is established,They will not break it. That is why it is vital to teach, the right way from the beginning.

It is 50-50 deal as well. As important as it is to teach the right things it is as just as important to do the part of learning. Maybe even more important. No one owes a new person a lesson. No new person is entitled to be taught.
In this day and age it is harder to find a mentor but much easier to learn the right ways to go about things. Use the boards, the internet, etc...maximize what can be learned there and if a new person is doing his part the mentor can see that and be more willing.
Cuts both ways.

Yes sir I understand, or may I say I overstand .A mentor should be patient and kind, and expect the student to make mistakes, but correct them in a way that encourages them. When walking in your garden we try not to step on young sprouts ,it will stop them from growing. A mentor can can have a profound life changing effect on someones life, mine did
And he was not a dogman, he was a chef.
