Dog has a open sore on her back hip

I just went an picked up my female that was at a friends house for 6 months to be breed to his male. He told me on two occasion he would bring her back because she didn't come in heat. Today I decided not to go to work and go see him. She a little skinny for me. Never had a dog with a open sore in that spot . What's the best way to get it healed and what is best to use to re gro her hair? Thanks

She probably needs a bath first. Then you can use Chlorhehadine diluted with water, or Vetricyn spray (Pink Eye formula is best because it's the strongest) daily.

When it dries up cover with Nu-Stock or Wound Cote, or whatever topical you like. Sounds like either a hot spot or bed sore from being thin and in housing without bedding.

A good diet always helps also.

Thanks S_B I gave her a bath and feed her when I got home. I also cleaned it with Chlorhexidine solution I had. I will get some wound-Kote today. I never had good luck with Nu- Stock.

I use unrefined coconut oil as both a food supplement and topical applied directly to any sores or skin condition. It's anti bacterial and helps with hair regrowth. There are many other benefits for the dogs as well as the owner!
