Thread: Bulldogs and Social Media

    Hahahaa!

That poor bastard has it so rough.

You said it right when you said he needs attention, that's what I noticed at least 85% of the people I was exposed to used their account to show off or look for pity. So ANNOYING!

I can see the benefits of social media, especially in business as it has basically and endless reach. I'll stay poor and private, just can't sell myself out like that. And the fact that people have actually lost their jobs over a Facebook post is asinine. It just seems like the perfect way for the government and anyone else to study your life as you lob all the info to them.

I think we are thinking the same.

At a dog show once I met a woman who was anti-government, conspiracy theorists, the grassy knoll, the whole nine. She bought a really nice Dodge 2500 truck to pull her 'rolling dog house'. The arguing point on the deal was the GPS. Of all the things it could do for her what she saw was it was another agent for big brother.

And from there her and her husband are on facebook talking dogs and past adventures with the dogs to other people.

I guess it is better if I sit over here and be out of the loop.

Social media is the new peds online and really has gotten out of hand when it comes to these hogs. If you are not in the UK or USA, have at it and post whatever you want about the sport bc you can't be incriminated. I used to be in all kind of game dog groups and used to post clean pics of my hogs working/etc just to show their beauty. It's been about 3 years since I got out all the game dog groups and I vowed to never post a dog pic or ped on Facebook again just to save myself the trouble of unwanted attention. I use Facebook to stay connected with family/friends and that's it. I don't really want nobody to know that I'm into these hogs bc I know I'm in search of feeding BULLDOGS at the end of the day. I try to stay out of sight and out of mind; and just give positive vibes to the public about the breed. When I see match reports of banged up hogs online, all i do is smh and laugh since what another man eats doesn't make me shit ya know. Lol.

I agree Meauxtivation. Like I said dudes can post their own animals on those sites, but don't post someone else's dogs. Those guys are bulldogging and I'm sure they wouldn't want their dogs posted on ig like that

O yea, I feel you on that. The guys that I know that are really serious about the hogs are not on Facebook/IG with it.

This might be my biggest problem with the whole idea of the dogs being on the social medias.

The guy who is not serious about the dogs can post things that adversely effect the guy who is seriously doing the dogs.

I say that as I type on an pretty much open forum. I can see the double standard.

Not my cup of tea but I can't dictate how others handle their business.

Great topic, especially considering times are changing really fast now.

I'm active on Facebook and Instagram, even in some dog groups, but I'll never post a pic of my own dogs on social media. Not everything needs to be shared to the world, especially something that can get you in trouble no matter how innocent you may be.

Some people call me "fake" because I like my privacy. I figure, if someone needs to see my dogs, they'll have an invitation to visit my yard anyways.

There's some things it's OK to be open about on social media, like what you ate for lunch that day (though your friends may hate you for it, lol). There's other things that, no matter where technology will take us in the next 10, 20, 30 years, should never be shared online.

It's just not worth it. Risk vs. Reward. Risking unwanted attention for some virtual likes? Doesn't make much sense...

I agree 100%. Risk is high, reward is what..for pride? Even if you don't have anything incriminating in the pics, the mere fact that you have a bulldog is enough to have people in your business causing you grief. You add in the fact that the dog ain't blue, throw in that you have chain setups, multiple dogs, and maybe even a brood pen....your yard looks like the commercial they play when the humane society begs for money. Better to be paranoid imo

The human-iac type-anti bulldog type people are dumbasses on one hand and then not so much on another.

They can read pedigrees and messages boards, maybe even reading this one as I type, in turn the social medias are just one more way the "underground world of dog fighting" (one of my favorite-least favorite phrases) gets exposed.

In a perfect world their would be no connection between me and the guy on social media doing what he has every right to do. The problem it is not a perfect world. Like the above said, all you need is a couple dogs, a couple chains and god forbid a breeding stand, and you are public enemy #1.

But the world is ever changing. I mean kids today can't walk 10 feet without access to the web. Today no story goes unpublished.

    But so it goes.

I was on a job talking with a customer of mine. They were telling me how somewhere over in East Asia where gaming is real big some folks neglected to properly nurish their infant and it died.

My point is technology has a strong hold, it all started with Pong, then Atari now look at us. I say this all while checking this site daily. lol

Social media will only grow, we have to learn to adapt. I'm not a willing participant but I feel in time I'll be almost forced to.
