Chain Fighters
What else can I do to stop my pup from fighting the chain? He's 6 months old, and he's going to ruin his teeth before I can use him. We walk everyday and do some light excercises. He's just so high strung. He has a kong toy in the chain spot to keep him busy, but he's still interested in fighting the chain.

Some just do it. It is the closest thing to them that moves, makes noise and restrains them.
I have had some success with hanging a hide in the chain spot.
I have had others say play with him while on the chain. Fight the hide while on the chain.
Then hope for the best.

Best of luck.
Around here we joke that is the first sign of a really good dog based on that is how our luck runs.

Sounds good lol. He's still young, but he has a lot of potential. His demeanor is so chill and laid back. I like a dog like that. I'm in the semi-country, still have some neighbors, but they are responsible and respectful with their dogs. He doesn't get all fired up and what not. I think he will be an excellent lil dog.

I was also thinking about spraying some of that bitter tasting stuff on the chain, but I don't know if that will work. It may just rub off from the chain dragging

I would try any and every thing to save the teeth.
Give it a try. The bitter apple works in the house. Spray it in his mouth and hold his mouth shut. It will be god awful for him. Do that a couple times a day. The spray the chain down. If he smells it he will leave it along. He will not forget and it will rub off/wash off in the rain. But a few squirts here and there will refresh his memory.
Best of luck.

Misfit,
I know a dog who couldn't be broke of chain fighting or digging. An above ground kennel solved those issues with him in particular. That may be your last resort if all else fails. Good luck!

Thanks S_B. If I can't get him to stop, then I'll have to build one
