I saw the first picture and said, "looks like a bird dog", and then read your reply to the picture.
The Cotton's Bullet strains went in a bunch of different directions. One thing that was a constant was they could bite. The ones we had/seen could all bite. And I mean really bite. The percentage of game dogs was average to even low. The ones we seen were best when on better dogs. They performed to the level of their competition. Put them on a beast and they could be beast X2. Put them on a scrub and they looked like scrubs too. Most of the ones that quit were usually on top. Sort of like, "I already kicked the snot out of him, what else is there to do?".
I am trying to remember the guys name who lived not too far from here in rural NC. He ran tight Bullet blood crossed to Molly Bee (Snooty/Molly Bee mostly, some Caesar/Molly Bee). Most of his dogs were white with patches, some bird dogs like, and on occasion the coat would be so white the skin ticked like a bird dog underneath. He won a bunch of matches in short order. The word was pretty much if you could get one to the 45-50 minute mark you had him on the next scratch. Getting to the 50 minute mark was a tough go.
My buddy bought a female from him that was solid white with a brown brindled patch over most of her head. I was split between cold and cur. She would not scratch but would maul whatever came to her corner. One of the harder biting and more violent shaking dogs I have seen. Just had no interests in scratching.
She was the carbon copy of the dog pictured above just colored differently.

Tge Gonner line of dogs is known for their steadfast nature. As a matter of fact, the "Tennessean" said he thought the redboy dogs were most steadfast until he saw a Gonner dog. The Tennessean owned Hunter Red. Some can close it, some can't, but the Gonner dogs, they'll be there.
Had a lot of that blood in Cecil
Been a lot of it round my way and regardless of how they're crossed they will STAY more often than not. Not the best style, but they are damn sure programmed to GO!
