Thanks for the share Evo. He's a keeper! In the second to last picture he is the absolute spitting image of Mayday...more so than the last pic
How old is he? He looks good bro.
The dog's body and coat look fantastic!
However, he is missing hair across his muzzle and face, that could be the beginning of a decline. I have seen a lot of dogs start the beginning of their health decline with losing hair across muzzle, over eyes, behind ears, etc.
What has he been eating up till now?
Jack
Haunchday is looking great, thanks for sharing the pics
Good observation Jack. His previous owner was feeding him less than stellar food. He's been eating Orijen Regional Red and Orijen 6 Fish for a few weeks now. HE LOVES IT. So he is definitely on a better plan now than what he used to be. Some of the missing hair is from Day 1 of the show where he got loose and went at it with Machobear. I broke them in a flash, but when we put him back in his kennel he went nuts and chewed through the air holes and was able to get his muzzle and head out of tiny hole he made in the kennel. In the process though, he scraped his face up pretty bad.
I see his muzzle is a bit swolen from it also ? The coat on his back is awesome, and i like his rib structure and how it blends together with his loins.
My dog has some hair los on his ears the same way your boy does. Warm weather brings it out i noticed, i just keep the same feed and it dissapears in a few weeks. I've just started to ad more oils to his feed because were back into conditioning since the last month. It's kind of weird, cause his coat looks better than ever but his ears still suffer from the hairloss in this time of year.
Okay, cool, I was just asking because that was a telltale sign of the beginning of immune dysfunction in Poncho, Missy, and many of the other old dogs I had (while I was still feeding kibble), was facial hair loss. The first signs of decline were hair loss on the muzzle, behind the ears, over the eyes ... as well as around their toes and feet.
Just thought I would mention that, and hopefully your better diet will reverse the process.
Jack
That is a sign of some sort of immune dysfunction. You can always tell if hair loss is an immune dysfunction (as opposed to mange/fungus), because hair loss from immune dysfunction is symmetrical about the body (e.g., over both eyes, behind both ears, on both front paws, etc.).
