    Well said.

Kefir is better than yogurt, and can be made at home.

    Just a few thoughts.
Kefir can be made at home easilly, but yogurt too, the great difference is the need for relative heat and this is not always a must.
I think that different cultures produce different products with different qualities, nothing more, nothing less. Obviously ready made yogurts are based on a limited number of cultures, but when you buy from small farm producers that curry their ancestors' product, then you get great variety.

    What about those flavored yogurts?

Flavored yogurts are full of sugar and fruit puree, etc, which is stuff a dog does not need. I guess one could feed a small amount as a treat. It won't harm the dog but it would not have much benefit either.

I've always bought the plain yogurt made from whole milk, none of the low fat or flavored ones. I eat some too, I add some maple syrup to mine and eat it instead of ice cream. It is especially beneficial if your dog or yourself has taken antibiotics. The yogurt helps replace some of the "good" bacteria in the intestines.
Common sense isn't so common these days.
