REST, If he's in anyway decent shape he can rest 2 weeks out. Done this mistake myself. my dog was 100% 2 weeks out and I ended up doing 1 more week of workout. I got him over trained and weaker than usual..This is how fine of a line it is.

This is what I do: soak the dog's pads in rice and wash them. And of course rest. It works wonders. Before you go to the event squeeze the pads and see if they a favoring it. If they are don't do it.

If you want to prevent pads from coming off, you should be using something everyday to prevent that from happening. It is a common oversight that people make. Buy some type of coat for the dog's pads, apply it everyday, and viola!! No more pads coming off!

If i have a big hunt coming up i use friars balsam get it off line i put it in a spray bottle and spray there feet 7 days in a row before i probably would use it as a preventative more than a cure though once the pads off i dont think there is a magic cure to grow it back in a week.
On a big hunt my mutts will catch 100+ pigs in a few days on hot unlevel ground friars keeps there pads on
