The Pit Bull Bible Online APBT Database

Adding a New Dog
Part I

When you want to check the database to see if a particular dog has already entered, click on The Ultimate Pedigree Database Tab and then select the Add Bulldog hyperlink from the Sub-Navigation menu:

After you click this hyperlink, you will then be taken to the Add Bulldog Engine:

The primary starting point will be the bulldog_add.php page. You can use this page either to (you guessed it!) add a bulldog, but also to search for a bulldog. However, it is important that you understand how to use the search feature correctly! For example, suppose I were looking for “J. Crenshaw's Ch Jeep ROM,” I would not type-in his full name and I would not add ‘Ch’ or ‘ROM’ either! Instead, I would only type-in Jeep. In other words:

  1. ♦ Do NOT enter the Breeder/Owner’s name yet;
  2. ♦ Do NOT enter either ‘Ch’ or ‘ROM’ yet either;
  3. ♦ Do NOT enter parenthetical names, EVER, like for instance putting in Crenshaw’s (Garrett’s) Jeep; this kind of garbage fouls-up the database searches.
  4. ♦ Do NOT enter quotation marks, EVER, like for instance putting in Crenshaw’s Jeep either, as quotation marks also foul-up the database searches.

Instead, all you have to do is type-in Jeep, and then all the dog names with “Jeep” appear:

From here, all you have to do is click on the Jeep you want and you will get his full pedigree, where you will see all of his pertinent info:

As you can see, all of Jeep’s pertinent information is there (titles, notes, registration #, etc.). I will discuss how this information is entered in the following pages, but the important thing to realize is that it gets added later, you do NOT include titles in either your searches or your initial name entries. However, if no dog named Jeep came up on your initial search, then you would have to fill-in Jeep’s entire registered name (withOUT the ‘Ch’ or ‘ROM’ titles) and re-submit. (Again, you will be able to add ‘Ch’ and/or ‘ROM’ later, under specific tables for record-keeping.)

To illustrate how this works, let's say I want to enter Vise-Grip's Black Witch into the database (who is not yet entered), here is what I would do:
