Thread: dog shows

I attended a few ADBA conformation shows and weight pulls down in Texas.Got to meet G.H, L.G and some other ''legends''.I can't wait to get back down south and start back attending, and, competing. Nothing like being around all of those bulldogs and dog people. Its like being near heaven if you love these dogs like I do.

I agree SBCK , nothing beats being around great dogs and people that share the same passion about the breed . Truly a taste of heaven for me here on planet earth in my humble opinion . The downside of being diagnosed with " Bulldog Fever " is I work dogs, work, work dogs, research dogs, sleep, and repeat . No vacations ...until I started showing dogs . Now I call my show trips Showcations and have a great group of people I meet up with along the show circuit . Feels good actually promoting the breed in a positive light as well !!! Shit when I got raided the animal control officer was really impressed with all the pretty ribbons and hardware too , never had an issue since . Hope to meet up with you all along the show trail someday . Best of luck !

I don't compete in conformation but I have dogs with people who do. I've tried twice over the years to start a ADBA sactioned club here in NWPA but getting the help needed to really get it off the ground always falls short. I do agree it is a great way to show some positive light on the breed.

One of mine from here that is with Chainyanker thats placing in 3 different registries. She'll do well I have no doubt.

What you mean by raided? Just investigated or did they take your dogs.

The last time I was referring to the local police , animal control , and the Boston SPCA all paid me a visit with out calling first . I was informed I was under investigation for intent for dog fighting . They did not take my dogs as I had my lawyer come to my house immediatly and deal with them as I have PTSD and definitely was not letting them take my dogs with out a fight !!! I ended up having another visit with a specialist from the SPCA and animal control the next week who went over my dogs taking pictures etc.. and talked to my vet . They all said I had amazing animals in tip top shape . I had just moved to this town , so I think they had never seen some one biking a dog 20 miles a day , dragging chains, mills , spring poles etc... yup all for legal purposes as my lawyer pointed out to them .

I tell people it is not if its when . So I keep a clean yard , own about ten acres , befriend all my neighbors and ansewer any and all questions they have . I was told by animal control that people had called and said my dogs were skinny and underfed too ! The lady from animal control even told me she had never seen a dog in such shape , I showed her my best conditioned trophies and told her I take it serious !!!!
