Progesterone tests
My vet charges $50 per test, the best day to start taking her in for the first test would be day 9 right? Just trying to figure out how I can do this without making unessassary visits at $50 a pop.

Re: Progesterone tests
Day 6 or 7 , than day 10 or so. 50 a pop is kinda expensive as here they got deals for 3 tests in a package here. One is almost worthless.
I sort of figure you know what the use of it is.
Also heat cycles differ a lot, mine was at her peak at the 18th day. So the 10th day test had no use for me. You sort of figure it would be the standard 13th, shows that is a guessing game. Better you ad another test than to miss the breeding by a day or so. Good luck.

Re: Progesterone tests
Just had my bitch tested. First test was day 6 they had me come back on day 9 based on her level and that was the day of her LH surge. So she was due to breed 4 days later.

Re: Progesterone tests
Why don't you just learn how to do your own?
You could have bought your own progesterone kit and done your own test for about $10/pop, if you know how to run it yourself.

Silent heat and progesterone testing
I have a 6 year old bitch that has silent heats. Basically no swelling and very little pinkish fluid by the time she shows anything. Any suggestions on when I should start testing with the progesterone testing? I've got the pre mate kit from Camelot farms and have been to a specialist. The vet tells me i should do a test every week to be able to catch when she comes in. Vet wants to charge 100 a test. This can get quite expensive and she doesn't recommend me using the pre mate kit. Says it's not reliable. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks guys
sorry guys I put this in the wrong spot. If the moderaters can move this thread into the canine reproduction section. Thanks
