This link should be selected if you have NOT done the actual breeding yet. In other words, don’t clutter up the actual Breeding Database with a bunch of “theoretical” breedings, just use this feature to check out what your prospective breedings look like. That way, you can see what you need to see, pedigree-wise, without actually adding false information to the existing Database.
The Testbreeding.php page itself is easy as pie to use, and there are only two fields to fill out:
When you click on the “Unknown” hyperlinks, these will take you to a Search Field, for both sire and dam. In this case, I added Silverback and Brick House and *whollah* I now have some meaningful information:
You will notice that not only do I have a pedigree to look at now, but I also have a Pedigree % Statistics Table, as well as a Wright's Inbreeding Coefficient (WIC), all of which will help me understand my breeding better. Keep in mind that, although the default pedigree display is 4-generations, there is a dropdown menu and this system allows you to go 15-generations deep! While a 15-generation pedigree is too massive to look at properly, the good news is the Pedigree Statistics and WIC become much more meaningful the further into a pedigree you go. For example, a 4-generation search yields a WIC of only 4.66% but a 13-gen search yields a WIC of 21.05% (If you have blank spots in your pedigree, then the data will be skewed a bit, so make sure you have the WHOLE pedigree for however far back you are reaching.)
That will wrap-up our Breeding Database Tutorial :)
Thank you for taking the time to read these instructions IN FULL. Your doing so will not only save me time (by not forcing me to spell-out for you what is already covered here), but it will save you time as well, simply because you will be able to fully-understand and enjoy the full benefits of this Resource right from the get-go. I thank you sincerely for joining today, and if you have any questions not covered here, please post them on this thread. Thanks again!
